My 1500 (1485) points of Bioficer

My 1500 (1485) points of Bioficer

I'm taking my half painted list, it's my 2nd real game but we are both new so are testing ships. About 80% of these i haven't used yet. Also 5 cells which aren't shown.

Custom kitbash ship

I was playing around with the bits from my UCM cruisers and frigates and a trick I saw about using plastic or wooden clothes pins to make a miniature starship hull!

After an evening of watching movies and a beer, I came up with this ship I made here. 😁 Built around a clothespin core, and covered in the unused engine parts, hull panels, and weapon accessories from cruisers and frigates kits. I used a bombardment weapon with the barrel removed as an old fashioned bridge tower. And I added some tubing in the back to give it a few additional engines in the gaps. Pics are WIP. Paint is next.

It's a little longer than a typical cruiser but less bulky. And it looks more old fashioned and more wet navy ships like in style; so...

In my head I imagine it's an older Heavy Cruiser design built for long range independent deployment. Like border patrol or armed exploration. It's armed with 2 medium mass driver turrets, missile batteries, and an early, less powerful, prototype of the Cobra Laser cannon (prow mounted).

Due to its solo mission profile, the ship has two small craft bays (port and starboard) carrying a single squadron each for recon, and interception. It also has a single Bulk Lander launch bay slung under its keel for planetary expedition shuttles and armed recon landers or drop ships.

Defensively the ship is equipped with advanced (for the time) electronic warfare and stealth shielding, and massed point defence laser batteries that rival most modern cruisers. As well as fairly advanced sensor detection systems that befits its scouting roll.

I dubbed it the Houston Class Long Range Cruiser.

Dropfleet Commander Hero Ship Review (so far...)

Three of the hero ships reviewed so far, how are they on your table?

The scourge and UCM ships have been played here, UCM seems a bit underwhelming, but the Melter....

Fresh meat looking for advice

DFC has been on my watch list for quite some time and I've finally decided to pull the pin, however, I'm not sure which faction to go for.

I'm not really sure which faction would fit but I like the idea of running a fleet that makes good use of fighters and bombers along with missile batteries from their capitals. When it comes to naval assets I've always been a fan of missile destroyers but when it comes to sci-fi I also like having the classic imagery from stuff like Farspace 2 and Wing Commander where squadrons of small craft pick apart the larger ships.

Any help or wisdom would be greatly appreciated. The Resistance look interesting but that's purely from a ship model perspective, I've no idea how they play etc.

1000 and 2000 Point UCM Fleet List Feedback

Hello! I've had DFC models for years now but only just started to properly build and assemble them, mostly a bunch of cruisers and frigates. I'm planning on getting the new UCM plastic battlecruisers because they look sweet. As a result, I made the following lists based off what I both have and am getting, and would like some feedback. Don't plan on fighting competitively or tournament stuff, looking more to having more casual matches with friends.

1000 point list:

LIGHT — 364
4x Santiago Corvette — 80 (20 * 4)
2x Lima Detector Frigate — 80 (40 * 2)
2x New Orleans Strike Carrier — 90 (45 * 2)
2x Oslo Cutter — 114 (57 * 2)

MEDIUM — 631
1x San Francisco Troopship — 100
1x Madrid Cruiser — 86
1x Las Vegas Command Carrier — 145
—1x UCM Captain with Mass Driver Volley — 25
1x Vilnius Heavy Cruiser — 115
1x Yokohama Supercruiser — 160

TOTAL = 995

---

2000 point list:

LIGHT — 744
2x Lysander Stealth Lighter — 50 (25 * 2)
4x Santiago Corvette — 80 (20 * 4)
2x Lima Detector Frigate — 80 (40 * 2)
2x Jakarta Aegis Frigate — 84 (42 * 2)
2x New Orleans Strike Carrier — 90 (45 * 2)
2x New Orleans Strike Carrier — 90 (45 * 2)
2x Oslo Cutter — 114 (57 * 2)
1x Vienna Escort Frigate — 66
2x Havana Destroyer — 90 (45 * 2)

MEDIUM — 881
3x New Cairo/Saratoga Light Cruiser — 210 (70 * 3)
1x San Francisco Troopship — 100
1x Madrid Cruiser — 86
1x Las Vegas Command Carrier — 145
—1x UCM Rear Admiral with Mass Driver Volley — 65
1x Vilnius Heavy Cruiser — 115
1x Yokohama Supercruiser — 160

HEAVY — 370
1x Perth Battlecruiser — 145
1x Milwaukee Pocket Battleship — 225

TOTAL = 1995

Any feedback on this list would be appreciated.

Also, as I'm getting the 2 player box as well as the Bioficer light ships box, some pointers on making a 1000 point Bioficer list would also be appreciated.

Scourge Advice for a New Player

Hi,

We've started a small community (4 players including myself : Scourge, UCM, Resistance, Shaltari) locally and I am flying Scourge.

From the experts here what are the key takeaways and paths to victory for my fleet?

I see a lot of Close Action and Scald weapons but only Scan 6 so it seems like I get forward while under silent running to avoid too much incoming fire. Then on a critical turn I dash forward into Scan range, do as much damage as I can. Then the turn after because of the high base speed even moving half from both players means I generally am now past them and out of Scan range again. So I functionally get one turn where my weapons do their thing and then have degraded performance.

How do I manage the ranges and maneuvers to get the most value out of Scald and Close Action?

What are the key ships in each category? Stand outs that are excellent and which are 'traps' that look good but don't really work properly?

Is trying to use the Mines and Torpedoes Corruptor worth it? It's one of the unique things about the fleet but is it a dud?

Thanks!

PHR - Cato kitbash from event BC

Finally got around to painting the event exclusive Battlecruiser that I - on the advice of the fine folks at the Dropfleet discord - converted to a Cato pocket battleship.

Since they're already vaguely fish shaped, I've decided I'll go with that theme all the way and give them fishy liveries, too - maybe that doesn't combine as well with Covenant style names (this was supposed to be called Eternal Conviction), but I do like the end result all the same.

Edit: I wonder if I've made it recognizable enough - this was inspired by a real exotic fish, even if it's not 100% accurate to it.

New Fleet New Paint Scheme

Trying for a shark themed paint job for the Scourge. I like how it’s been coming out so far

Question on linked and overcharge

My buddy and I are both going back and forth on this. Basically our thoughts are as follows:

Linked makes two weapons count as one for order purposes. Overcharged says you can only overcharge one weapon. Does this mean you can overcharge both of the linked weapons as they count as one weapon, or do you count them as one weapon when figuring out how many you can shoot, but once it comes to assigning/firing, then you count them as two? We can’t find any faq addressing this specific scenario, and the wording in the orders/attacking section don’t seem to be specific enough for us to say 100% either way.

*edit to possibly better explain our train of thought:*
The linked rule states “Weapons with the same Linked-X value on the same Ship count as 1 Weapon for
Orders purposes”.
In the section about orders, it states “Orders are performed in the specified sequence, completing one action (moving, turning, attacking,
etc) with the Group before moving on
to the next action”.
To my buddy and I, this sounds like attacking is considered part of the order, as you complete it.
The overcharge rule states “Only one weapon per ship may benefit from this rule per activation”.
Are we right to read it as: Because the weapon counts as 1 weapon for the whole order, and attacking falls under performing the order, the two linked weapons count as 1 weapon when you go to overcharge it? This feels like an obvious loophole, so we wanna check with others’ train of thoughts on the wording of it all

Any help to clear this is appreciated!

Dave Lewis UCM Battle Rifle

That's another UKGE in the bank and Dave Lewis is back in the dungeon. Whilst Dave was out on a day release, he got the chance to show off his carefully crafted UCM Battle Rifle. Did you get a chance to see it, and has anyone made any wargaming props like this for themselves?

UCM Heavy Destroyers

Hi, are the UCM heavy destroyers worth taking over the standard Havana? There doesn’t seem to be much info about them online and it feels a little bad to only make 1 from the box. Anyone any experience or tips with them?

My storage solution

I use self-adhesive round magnets the same size as the base, and then stick them to a self-adhesive rubber metal liner in a plastic tray. This does make them slightly taller, but has the added benefit of making them more bottom heavy, so bigger ships don't topple over as much

My current game

I've knocked out 2 of the 3 Bioficer cruisers, but my UCM battleship is staring directly down the barrel of a grand bisector as we go into turn 5 (the string in the middle is a planetary ring)
