DO NOT BUY the Aventon Folding Lock

DO NOT BUY the Aventon Folding Lock

I didn't realize how popular folding locks have become, these type of locks are a thieves favourite thing to break. They're a 2 minute cut, but the main thing is you're providing a thief with a very stable condition for them to lean their body weight on whilst cutting so it doesn't shake or vibrate, thus meaning the thief is going to break your lock a lot more quicker

This man argument towards folding locks (different brand but same argument applies) is worth listening to.

Third party GPS tracker suggestions

Without getting into a debate, to put it simply, the inbuilt GPS isn't the best on these things. Mine is inaccurate and doesn't even know what house I live in - and we are seeing people posting with security failures occurring.

I would like to purchase my own GPS tracker, but have some questions.

  1. What are you guys using?
  2. Do you have suggestions on stealth places to hide it?
  3. How long does battery last? Do you have to recharge these things?
  4. Are they physically obvious? Or discrete looking?
  5. Are they only Bluetooth dependent? The air tags say they're Bluetooth, so if you're out of range from your phone does the GPS tracker just simply fail?
  6. Is there subscription costs involved with these things?

If y'all could do a break down for us riders that haven't bought a third party tracker before, I think you will do a lot of us a great service.

Cheers

Abound Panniers + Big feet - any experience?

Curious to hear from Abound Riders that own the Cargo bags the website sells.

Specifically I want to hear from you if you have:

Size US 13 feet, 12 too but 13 preferable, UK size 12.

Does your feet hit the abound Panniers when you're riding?

The pedals feel like they're made for a small Chinese person, (it's made in China), but when I attach a third party panniers - my feet strike the side of the panniers when I'm pedaling.

I would like to know if the official panniers have this problem for people with bigger feet?

Why does my Abound sound like a Washing Machine when using Cruise Control?

I cannot work out why my back wheel is so noisy, when I engage the cruise control it literally has a whining pitch like a Washing Machine turning on, when I disengage normal sound, when the wheel slows down - a very loud hitch pitch squeel comes out.

The Bike Shop even disconnected the breaks / removed the mesh etc / did everything Aventon recommended on my last post but the sounds are still here.

I am concerned, and parts are limited in New Zealand - but my riding experience is fine.

Let me know, unsure of others have this weird noise thing going on with their Abounds

Took it into the shop yesterday to get the breaks re-adjusted, so the wheel is running sweet as again but I recorded this video prior to getting my breaks readjusted - the crunch sound is gone but this high pitch squeel remains.

The mechanic briefly disconnected the breaks and the sound was still made whenever the wheel moves at a slow speed. It was only a quick checkup as I went in for my breaks, but this sound remains a mystery to me.

We don't know if it's the engine, but from a quick guess the mechanic suggested it might be a sound of "rubber" rubbing? It was only a brief checkup so unsure.

Thoughts?

P.s Bike runs amazing, zero issues thus far, very happy customer

I hate this screen, I accidentally fat finger it constantly when trying to hit my indicators in traffic, meaning I can't indicate occasionally and have to quickly tinker with the buttons at a high speed to try get rid of this bloody screen while riding.

Does anyone else fat finger this screen when out riding in traffic? Please get rid of it lol
