Shopping for my first e-bike, is the Aventon Pace 4 worth the extra $400 over the Soltera 2.5?

I am a larger individual (6', 230ish lbs), so the Pace 4's larger tires and step-through frame are appealing, but as my use case is purely for pleasure rides around a fairly flat urban area the increased range and power of the Pace 4 aren't terribly important- would I be better saving $400 and going with the Soltera 2.5? Thank you!

Must have accessories

We recently sold a vehicle and purchased the Aventon Abound SR to replace the vehicle for in town traveling. We have ordered a captains seat to add to the back of the bike, but I am wondering what other accessories or parts others would recommend?

We are a family of 4 with two kids under the age of 5.

Anyone Else?

Anyone else order a Level 4 ADV Step-Over style recently and is super excited but is also slowly dying waiting patiently for it to arrive?? Ordered mine from a bike shop a couple weeks ago, knowing that it wouldn't be available to pick-up until late June...

I thought the time would fly by, but I think about the damn thing every single day and cannot wait for it to get here! It will be my first ebike, and although I love my Trek DS-2, I can't help but think about the upgrade I'm about to have every bike ride I've taken since ordering. Trying to manifest an email from the shop saying that it arrived early any day now...

Anyway if anyone else is in this same boat and wants to form a support group lemme know

New Firmware QoL Updates

Should have led with this but: this is on my Level4 REC. Other models may mot have an update.

Saw these came out on the 18th but I didnt get the notification until now. Some decent updates have been made, interested to see what "fitness support" is and what models support it.

Current mid drive. Where did it come from?

I like the aventon current but the mid drive motor is scaring me. Where did aventon get it? Is it a rebranded motor that’s been around? Did they actually design it? (That’s what I’m most scared of)

Current ADV - Pedaling without assist

I ordered a Current ADV this week, ship ETA is listed as 5/30. The day after I placed my order, I found out a local town just banned all ebikes on borough property, due to teens on Surron types and with throttle assist abusing the area. This is unfortunate for me, as borough property is the easiest way to access the greater trail system in my area.

This being said - How hard is it to pedal Current ADV with 0 PAS? Can the bike be turned off and pedal, or is that prevented by the hardware/security features? I am coming from a RadRover 5, which was OK to pedal with 0 PAS, but it was hub drive without the app/controller security that Aventon has implemented. There is a $300 fine, but I am willing to test my luck if I can show the bike is off, just to pass through to get where I need to go.

Regenerative braking and coasting on Level 4 Rec

I'm experiencing really inconsistent behavior of the regenerative braking+coasting, is there something I should know about how it operates?

I have a lovely canyon road nearby I've been riding up and down. When I leave my house the regenerative features appear to be on and working, but by the time I get to the point in my journey where I WANT it (turning around at the top), it is no longer functioning. It's always on in the app, it just ceases to trigger on the bike itself.

Do the regenerative features disable under certain conditions? I do get a heat warning on occasion on the way up, is the overheating disabling regenerative features?

Is it crazy to just buy online?

I’ve always loved riding my bike, ever since I was a kid. Now I’m a chubby 30 year old mom of twin two year olds, and my single speed beach cruiser I’ve had since I was 14 isn’t going to cut it to get us around. So I’ve done a ton of research and I want to get the abound LR. I’ve never ridden an electric bike before, and there’s nowhere around me to test ride. We are going to the coast in a month from now and there’s a shop there that has them, but the deal on Aventon’s website right now is better than that shop- I already called.I’m fairly handy and I think my husband and I could figure out how to put a bike together.

Would it be crazy to just buy online without having ridden one first?

How long did the purchase take? For those of you who bought at a local bike shop.

Specifically for those who bought a bike at an actual physical Aventon dealership.

How long does it take?

Do they just scan a bar code and send you on your way? or is it like a car dealership where you are there for an hour?

Thanks!

OK to charge 2 batteries from a single outlet?

We just got 2 Level 3 bikes and I’m setting up a spot in the garage for them. From what I can tell, the Level 3 chargers pull 48V each.

Can I safely plug both of them into the same outlet? Am I even thinking of the Voltage demand the right way?

Anyone doing this already?

No assist

Sorry if this is a stupid question: does the assist completely shots off when going downhill or if I choose to? The question is for the Current model.

Tannus Armour install

Decided I wanted to reduce the chance of flats while riding. I'm not afraid of wrenching on my bike, but I enjoy riding more than fixing flats on the ride. Checked with the LBS where I bought our bikes, and got the feeling from the estimate range that they didn't really want to install them.

Bought a set for our Pace 500.3 online and also got the smaller tubes they recommended. The installation wasn't too bad. Remvoing the rear wheel was the biggest challenge. If you've had the rear wheel off, you know what I mean.

I also added Flat Out to the bikes to further prevent flats.

All in all, wasn't too bad of an install. I have assembeld other ebikes that were purchased online, so I have had some experience with ebikes.

Only have ridden on them for about 50 miles so far. I've enjoyed the rides much more since the install. Much of the worry about flats has vanished.

Current Adv- Any small riders out there? Any reviews from small riders

I am looking at getting this bike, but am only 5’4”. I rode a medium and I needed more standover to be comfortably over the bar- looking for 1“-2”. Also wondering how it rode? If you didn’t go with the Current ADV due to size and handling, what did you end up going with? Any recommendations?

Heavy Rain Level 4 rec

So I commute with level 4 rec and today we had a deluge of rain. Should I just ride without turning on the bike or is the cockpit and controls weather proof.

Prima Basket

Saw a used Prima basket for twenty bucks on facebook marketplace and decided to try it out on my abound. No drilling needed.

Missed the free accessories 😔 feels a little unfair 😢

Just saw that they're including free accessories now with a level 4 rec or adv purchase 😔. Where was this when I bought the bike a month ago 😒

How hard is it to get to and maintain 28mph?

On the level, no boost mode? Coming from a very fast bike, don’t want to be disappointed.

DO NOT BUY the Aventon Folding Lock

I didn't realize how popular folding locks have become, these type of locks are a thieves favourite thing to break. They're a 2 minute cut, but the main thing is you're providing a thief with a very stable condition for them to lean their body weight on whilst cutting so it doesn't shake or vibrate, thus meaning the thief is going to break your lock a lot more quicker

This man argument towards folding locks (different brand but same argument applies) is worth listening to.
