Two Abound Bike Rack?

Hello,

I am trying to find a solution for transporting 2 aventon abound LRs with a SUV. I have a Honda Pilot with a 2inch receiver.

I purchased the CyberRack E2 rack and noticed a couple of issues once installed. First, the middle bar clamp has to be removed in order for the abound to make clearance (not end of world but annoying).

Second is front bike basket would clearly clip the front of a second abound if placed in the second position. If a cargo rear rack was on the second abound being loaded it would clearly not sit correctly / rub against the front basket of the second abound.

Possible thought of solutions:

Flat Cargo utility rack, not sure how to keep the bikes upright.

Buy a trailer (out of budget)

Buy a truck (out of budget)

Suggestions?

Serial complainer receives his bags

Received the Aventon Abound Cargo Panniers this week, after a long wait and constant bombardment it has arrived

Very nice quality, sturdy and finally the rack isn't empty anymore or exposing available room.

Straps are good, it's sturdy and I'm happy

Thanks Aventon 👍

My fellow Kiwis, a whole bunch more accessories should be arriving soon into the country

Another "which one to buy" post

Fresh post, because each person is a unique individual, so here is my situation:

I'm 59m, been riding all my life, used to do a lot of centuries on the road, 6 hour solo mtb races on my SS, and loved riding IMBA epic routes, or just exploring and doing long rides on my gravel bike. (I still do, but I used to love it too~) I sold my road bike a few years ago, still ride my gravel bike a lot, and (all of my ) Mountain bikes don't see enough trail time anymoer.

Anyway, I find myself slowing down and want to be able to continue the long rides, so I'm looking for my first e-bike. I have not settled exclusivly on Aventon, but they seem to fill the niche I"m looking for.

Since I have all the self-powered bikes I could want, I am struggling to decide which style of e-bike to get. MTB is my biggest need, but I am a bit skeptical to get a dedicated e-MTB, I want something more versitile.

I'm looking at bikes like the Adventure M, or The Ramblas. (Edit: Ramblas might be the better fit for me) They seem to be great for local commuting, comfort riding, but also trail-capable, and having enough range to stay out for several hours at a time. My hang-up is that I'm not sure I need the fat-tires, and might rather something like a hard-tail with 27.5*2.6 (approx), and still range and trail capability is important to me.

I know I can (and have and will continue to) look at their site and find the right bike, but I'm also looking to people who own them already to comment.

I am NOT looking for a cruiser bike to ride 3-miles to the pub and back once a month. I need a more serious bike.

What is important:

  • Cheap, reliable, and light (I'll pick two, Hahaha)
  • Range
  • Trail capability
  • Comfort
  • Reliability
  • Availability of parts and service (they have a local dealer here in Raleigh NC, so there's that)
  • You experience and opinions.

20 mile range?

I'm an Aussie, I took my bike about 35km this morning. Took me about 2 hours, totally in pedelec. Just as I was approaching home the motor stopped helping me, the battery readout reading about 45%. After putting the bike away, I checked a few minutes later and it showed 0%.

Is that normal? How do I factor this in to make sure I don't strand myself? This bike is a dick to ride in acoustic mode!

edit: forgot to mention it's a Soltera 2.5, used in pas 2 for most of the ride and then pushed to pas 4 to help overcome some very strong headwinds.

Used Level 2 for $700. Good price to buy?

My wife has a level 2 and loves it and has expressed that she wants to bike together. I found one used that has 1,600 mi. Only one owner. He said he has taken good cosmetic care such as bringing the bike in when it's raining and not dropping it. I'm worried about any upcoming maintenance (tune up, brakes, battery) which would make the bike costing more. Am I worrying way too much? Is it better to spend an extra 200-300 for a lower mile bike?

Thank you!

Pace 5 Rec Fork Replacement?

I've been looking to upgrade from my current ebike to an Aventon for some months now. The problem I was facing was that I wanted something in pink, and Aventon wasn't selling anything in that color.

Now the Pace 5 is out and has the color I want, but the main thing holding me back is that it doesn't have suspension. Does anybody experienced with the bike know if it is possible to replace the original fork with one that does have suspension?

I am aware that the Level 4 offers suspension, but the color is unfortunately important to me and I fear the difficulty of painting the bike myself.

Aventon Pace 500.2 Issues

I need some advice on what to do. I bought my Pace 500.2 in April 2022 from my local bike shop. It worked well for 4 years, but in early May the pedal assist, throttle stopped working on my commute home. It's been in and out of the bike shop for almost 2 months and we can't figure out what's wrong with it. My local bike shop, dropped Aventon last year due to difficulties working with the company so they're asking me to contact Aventon to diagnose the issue since the mechanic charges $150 an hour.

Aventon first said it was a cadence issue. I paid the $20 (including shipping), plus $75 for labor. That didn't work. Then they said it was a controller issue. I paid $100 (including shipping) for the controller. I was sent the wrong controller, so I had to purchase the right controller ($100) and send back in the wrong one and they refunded me $92. The controller didn't solve the issue and the mechanic noticed discoloration on the battery and battery charging issues. Aventon said I needed a new battery and terminal ($517). I just had it installed. The mechanic took it for a few test rides, it worked for him, but once I picked up the bike and biked home the battery light turned off and shortly after the monitor turned off, like the whole bike shut off. I was able to turn the monitor back on while while the battery light was off, which I shouldn't be able to do if the battery light is off. The labor for this was about $300 (for the controller and battery installation). I have a feeling Aventon is going to tell me to replace the wiring, the monitor, and whatever else hasn't been replaced yet to diagnose the issue.

I've spent $1020 on parts and labor and the bike was $1600. I feel like I'm blindly rebuilding a bike that may or may not work. Do I continue to fix it or cut my losses? If I cut my losses, what do I do with a nonfunctioning ebike? At this point, it's just a bike that weights 50lbs.

New bike LeveL 4 Rec

Hello fellow riders

First ebike ever!
I have an eclectic car, electric scooter, electric skateboard, it was about time for me to get a electric bike.

The bike is awesome, full of tech 4G/Gps, torque sensor , regenerative coating and breaking, the 750w motor, usb-c ,integrated lights etc… A bit expensive but well worth it.

I haven’t ridden a bike for a couple years now, but i really wanna ride again. Im looking forward to learn your tips and tricks, i would also like to know which accessories you guys are using on your Level 4 Rec

Overall very happy with my purchase and can’t wait to enjoy some long rides.

Happy riding!

Aventon Abound LR vs Lectric Xpedition 2.0

I'm looking at these two cargo ebikes for my next ebike but just torn between the two due to certain features. Seems like you can never just get it all when it comes to ebikes. I absolutely love the look of the Aventon Abound LR and I really like the ACU anti-theft features they put into the bike like GPS tracking, kickstand lock, motor lock, etc. Aventon in general seems to be a higher quality brand than Lectric too. But unfortunately the rear rack capacity on the Abound is only a measly 143 lbs and I would like to occasionally bring an adult passenger along on the bike with me. This wouldn't be too often maybe only like 2 to 4 times a year. I like the Xpedition 2.0's look well enough and the carrying capacity on the rear rack is more than enough. But the lack of security features on the bike give me pause and it seems like Lectric Ebikes are more service heavy than Aventon. I would be keeping my bike in my apartment with an elevator and mainly using it for quick food pickup/short stops where I am only away from the bike for 5-10 minutes. So all in all, does anyone e have experience with these 2 bikes? How is it riding with two adults? Are the ACU anti theft features really effective? Please let me know! Thanks!

6wks+ for a replacement part?

My bike shop submitted a warranty claim for a replacement rear bike break from Aventon over 6 weeks ago, and they say they’ve followed up several times but haven’t heard anything back. I also tried to call today but their phone lines were down and the AI chat bot wouldn’t connect me with a real person. What is going on at the company??? Anyone else dealing with this? Just me?

Seat recommendations?

I have the stock seat but I’ve never been a real fan of the wide seats. I’m looking for something a little more road like seats that are gel. I’ve heard good things about these, are they worth the $100?

PSA make sure battery is secure before riding.

The bike will run if the battery is unlocked. Sometimes the battery will stay in secured position with the lock unengaged, so give battery a tug before riding. Can this be fixed with a software update?

Trying to decide between level 3 and 4 rec

Hi. I am trying to decide between a level 3 and a level 4 rec. The difference is about $400 I cost between the two new from my local bike shop. My use case: 6 foot 200lbs, my daily commute is about 15km/8miles total on paved roads. I would like to use it on gravel paths sometimes too. Is the regen brakes worth it? Anything else?

Buying an Aventon in Australia through BikesOnline AU

I'm considering buying an Aventon Level 3 Commuter through BikesOnline.com.au and I'm looking for people's experiences with buying this brand through BikesOnline Australia and whether the Australia modified versions are worth it. How is the customer support, after sales service, parts availability, etc

The Aventon Level 3 Commuter is currently being sold for AUD$2,599.00 (USD$1,791.19).

https://bikesonline.com.au/products/aventon-level-3-commuter-ebike?variant=51501570392345

The specs are a little different to the US model to comply with Australian regulations. According to the product description it has:

- MOTOR: Aventon 36V 250W Rear Hub Drive (682W Peak, 52Nm Torque), 25km/h Assisted Speed

Whereas I believe the US model has: 36V, 500W (sustained), 864W (peak) - and I imagine a throttle too. So the AU model has less continuous power and lower peak power, and a lower maximum speed.

According to https://aventonbikes.com.au/ the official retailer for Aventon in Australia is BikesOnline.com.au

Has anyone from Australia bought this restricted version of the bike and think it's worth it?

Tell me about your battery life (not per charge, overall life)

Hey.

I just had to take my bike to an authorized dealer when it just stopped turning on suddenly. It was under warranty (barely) and they determined it was the battery.

General research suggests that a battery should last between 3-5 years, so mine was certainly on the younger side, and it gave no indication it was at the end of its life (it wasn't draining more quickly than usual etc.)

I live in a cold climate and cycle through the winter. I charge the battery indoors, but the battery stays outside when the bike is locked up during my work hours. It is stored in a garage otherwise.

I am friendly with my local bike shop (sells trek enikes) and the owner there does the same as me (charges indoors but stores outdoors) and his battery is about 6 years old and going strong.

So I am curious about other owners and their overall battery life...?

Replacement display

Don't be foolish like me I went to change a tire flipping my bike over on its handles bars and I broke the controller for the display. Has anyone else had to order a replacement recently how long did it take to receive. I'm really worried this is going to take like a month and this is my only form of transportation and way of making money.

Riding Bike Home?

We just pulled the trigger on an Aventon Abound LR. We’re having it shipped to a local shop for assembly, but the closest shop is ~16 miles from our house. Is it silly to assume we can ride it home? It’s mostly back roads. I haven’t ridden a bike in probably ten years.

Otherwise, we’ll need to borrow a truck or larger ride from a friend to get it home. I’m eyeing the Aventon rack, but that’ll also mean getting a hitch out on the car. I’d like to do that eventually, but hoping to spread the large expenses out a bit.
