Simple Desk

This is my take on a desk from the video game Dishonored 2.

I love the art design in this game, and especially its furniture pieces. This is a common desk that you come across in offices and homes throughout the game but for its utilitarian simplicity, they haven’t skimped on the extra details that show that it was still made by a talented craftsperson. I hope I did it justice.

Desk Replica Complete

I've always loved this desk from D2/DotO.

I'm already well-into my next Dishonored furniture build, but what else would you like me to make? What are your favorite pieces of furniture from the Dishonored universe?

I'm a novice and I made a lot of novice mistakes.

I dropped a heavy weight on a walnut veneer desk. It broke through the veneer and dug a hole into the plywood below. I patched it with a piece of solid walnut (yes, the grain and color don't match at all) and, in the process of sanding the patch flush with the veneer, I sanded through the veneer around the patch.

Basically my question is "What would competent woodworkers do at this point?"

I have more veneer. Should I router out a pocket the same depth as the thickness of the veneer and try to find a matching piece?

I have a Minwax stain marker, but I don't know how to use it in a way that doesn't make the retouching look blotchy.

Should I get some Prismacolor colored pencils and try to add back the color in layers?

I throw myself at the mercy of the forum. I've spent months working on this desk and I ruined it the day before I was planning to call it done. Please share any advice you can offer to give me a chance at salvaging this piece.

A familiar desk, coming soon

First I built the desk in fusion, then I made it in plywood. The next step is replacing the plywood pieces with solid walnut.
