What rival fans sound like to normal people when they keep bringing up Connor Stalions or whine about the 2023 title:

Chris Partridge claims in wrongful termination lawsuit that Matt Weiss was involved in advanced scouting opponents and that Santa Ono and Warde Manuel covered it up

If this statement from Partridge is true, then it looks like Stalions was made a scapegoat for Matt Weiss’ violations and a much larger operation.

With this Stanley Cup Final lasting five or more games again, the 1998 Red Wings likely popped another champagne bottle.

With this Stanley Cup Final lasting five games or more once again, the 1998 Red Wings have more than likely popped another champagne bottle, as they remain the last team to win the Stanley Cup in a sweep.

Plus, the 1997-98 Red Wings are the last team to win the Stanley Cup in back-to-back sweeps, something only four other teams have done.

When do you think we will see the next sweep in the Stanley Cup Final?

The last time the Knicks won the NBA championship, this happened in Nerd Culture

Another Half Century of Failure has been ended in the NBA. First, it was the Bucks in 2021. Now, it’s *record screech*……….THE KNICKS?!! The hell?

Holy shit, the Knicks are actually NBA champions again, and they did it in spite of James Dolan’s actions! I must be dreaming…

The last time the Knicks won the NBA title was in 1973, in which they knocked off the Lakers in five games. It was the third Lakers-Knicks Finals of the decade, with the Knicks taking the 1970 Finals in seven, and the Lakers taking the 1972 Finals in five games. It was the last championship of Willis Reed’s career, and the second of what is now four championships won in the current Madison Square Garden’s history. Damn. As prestigious of an arena as MSG is, you’d think that it would have more championship banners hanging in its rafters, but I guess not.

Now the wait is over, and another Half Century of Failure has been ended this decade, with the Knicks joining the Chiefs and Bucks.

So here’s what came out the last time the Knicks won it all:

Video game releases:

  • Gotcha (Arcade)
  • Pong-Tron (Arcade)
  • Elepong (Arcade)
  • Space Race (Arcade)
  • Moonlander (PC)
  • Empire (PC)
  • Empire II (PC)
  • Interplanetary Voyage (Odyssey)
  • Basketball (Odyssey)
  • W.I.N (Odyssey)
  • Brain Wave (Odyssey)
  • Hunt the Wumpus (PC)

Anime releases:

  • Cutey Honey
  • Babel II
  • Mazinger Z
  • Doraemon
  • Belladona of Sadness
  • Mazinger Z vs. Devilman
  • Zero Tester
  • Aim for the Ace!

All of that came out the last time the Knicks won the NBA championship. Yeah, it was still the stone age for anime and gaming back then.

Things were crazy in 1973 though. We were in the middle of an oil crisis. The Vietnam War was still ongoing. Hayao Miyazaki was still jumping from anime studio to anime studio working on different shows. The second film of the Dirty Harry movie franchise, Magnum Force, came out in theaters. Roger Moore made his debut as James Bond in Live and Let Die, and would eventually go on to star in six more Bond films during his time in the role. Volkswagen released the Passat sedan line. BMW launched the 2002 Turbo, their last production car with a turbocharged engine until 2007. The Exorcist released in theaters, and set the standard for horror movies for generations. Bruce Lee’s film career went out with a bang in Enter the Dragon, and would sadly pass away shortly after its release. George Lucas released his second film - American GraffitI, and would go on to release Star Wars just four years later.

This wasn’t just a lifetime ago, THIS is ancient history now.

One last word before I end this post:

James Dolan, don’t fuck this momentum up.

It’s official: Dallas Stars choose Plano for new arena, entertainment district

With the Stars officially moving to the suburbs, that leaves only the Mavericks as the only Dallas team playing within Dallas city limits.

The last time the Knicks made the NBA Finals, this happened in Nerd Culture

For the first time in over a quarter century, and in spite of James Dolan’s actions, the Knicks are back in the NBA Finals.

This was a long time coming. It’s the Knicks first NBA Finals appearance since their Cinderella run back in 1999, where they made NBA history and became the first eighth-seeded team to make the Finals. Yes, it was during a lockout-shortened season, but the Knicks still made NBA history, and they did it after losing Patrick Ewing to a season-ending achilles injury in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers.

However the clock would strike 12 on the Knicks as they were beaten by the Tim Duncan-led Spurs in five games, their second consecutive defeat against a Texas team in the Finals, as they previously lost to the Rockets in 1994.

This time, the Knicks are coming into the Finals red hot, and are a heavy favorite to win it all.

Will the Knicks finally end their Half-Century of Failure this year?

  • Master Keaton (Season 2)

All of that came out the last time the Knicks made the NBA Finals.

In 1999, things were different. Sega launched the Dreamcast in North America. Pierce Brosnan’s underrated third James Bond movie, The World is Not Enough, just came out, and it was the first film in the series to have a female main villain. Star Wars had returned to theaters after a 16-year hiatus with The Phantom Menace. Cell phones were just starting to become prominent in American society. The Stanley Cup was headed to the Lone Star State for the first time ever after a controversial finale in the Stanley Cup Final. Michael Jordan’s reign of terror over the NBA was finally over. The Spurs won their first championship, and would start a dynasty just four years later. Phil Jackson became the head coach of the Lakers, and he successfully rebuilt the NBA’s Evil Empire with Kobe and Shaq. Michigan State returned to the Final Four after a two decade absence. UConn won its first national championship in a massive upset over Duke, and would eventually evolve into one of the Blue Bloods of college basketball as they won the natty in their next five title game appearances before their streak was ended by Michigan in 2026. Florida State won its second national championship. The Falcons made their first Super Bowl. John Elway went out in a blaze of glory with the Broncos as they won back-to-back championships. Barry Sanders retired from the NFL. Joe Dumars retired from the Pistons after being the last holdout from the Bad Boys era. The Tigers played their last season at Tiger Stadium. Tom Brady was playing in his final season at Michigan, and he would later lead them to a Top 5 finish with an Orange Bowl win over Alabama. All four original members of Pantera were still alive and were working on the band’s final album together. Microsoft released Windows 2000. The Y2K panic was upon us. Dan Marino was playing in his final season with the Dolphins. The Rams’ Greatest Show on Turf team made their debut, and they would go on to win a Super Bowl for the ages early next year. Scotty Bowman was still head coach of the Red Wings. The first Yankees-Red Sox playoff series occurred in the ALCS, and the long-standing rivalry between the two teams would only intensify as the years went on. Boston was in the middle of a rare sports dark age, as they went 16 years without a championship.

1999 was a LIFETIME ago now.

Yahoo Sports: Michigan wants former football coach’s wrongful termination lawsuit thrown out

Why though? To me this screams desperation and an attempt to hide something. It gives me the impression that behind closed doors Warde is in a panic about something.

The Michigan basketball-Ghost in the Shell connection

In 1989, Michigan’s basketball team won the national championship, and a month later Masamune Shirow releases the Ghost in the Shell manga.

It’s now 2026. Michigan’s basketball team won the national championship, and a month later an anime adaptation of Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell manga is announced, release date in July.

To quote The Incredibles: “Coincidence? I think NOT!”

Truly interesting, isn’t it?
