I still think the movie could’ve blown up even more if they tried
Michael will most likely hit $1B and I’m happy it broke records during its first days and weeks
But I know damn well it could’ve done even more if they didn’t solely rely on word of mouth purely from how famous MJ was
It’s for sure something to be proud of that the movie broke records purely from being about MJ and people only knowing about it the month of release (istg most people didn’t know. I travel to several countries for work, and even asked about it to people who casually listen to MJ)
But as someone who only hopes for more people to open up to seeing him as that pure genuine soul… it only irritates me more that we have this once in a lifetime opportunity to be surrounded by MJ posters and MJ news, and they didn’t even try to capitalise on it
There are so many ideas that many have shared - from as simple as singalongs at cinemas, to releasing the trailers and announcements at major events, to many more
For example, Kai Cenat who has the largest audience of 10-30y olds in the live-streaming world, he personally knows Jaafar Jackson. Kai made many livestreams with other celebs, why didn’t Jaafar and the cast do anything with Kai
I know some will say “well we don’t need streamers for the MJ movie to succeed”. I know that, but what I mean is that, it would help let people “BE AWARE” a movie exists and the fact it’s MJ will do the rest cuz people love MJ
it would be like “ohh what there’s an MJ movie? I’ll watch that. oh this Jaafar looks cool and he’s talented for a new actor. damn he can dance like MJ, I need to watch that new movie”
same thing with iShowSpeed who has always made many MJ Experience videos
if Jaafar did this, it would help people reconnect or discover the talent of MJ (since he’s not here to do it) and Jaafar can talk to the audience about who he was and what the movie does
You need to reach the new audience
MJ’s legacy will do the rest once these new audiences hit the cinemas
EDIT:
if u misunderstood
i’m just saying. MJ can get 1$ billion with just word of mouth, but he can go even up to $2 billion if they tried to tell people about the movie
what does the audience consist of?
- the biggest MJ fans community
- the music/dance enthusiasts
- the cinema fans
- people who know he’s a legend and curious now
what i’m asking is to target those that know he’s a legend but haven’t been told to watch the movie about him - that’s where the marketing team is supposed to come
whereas, people keep talking about all the promo videos they made… yeah on the official MJ related accounts - which is where the MJ fans already exist and would watch regardless … 🤦♂️
but let’s not be in denial - there are so many people that would jam to MJ if they heard it on the radio and say yeah he’s a legend, but they won’t necessarily watch the movie
what i’m saying is MJ is a legend and you just need to remind people or let the new gen be aware of his legend - his story and talent will do the rest
u just need to convince people to go to the cinema seats
