AMA WITH BLIP - TRANSLATOR OF POISON PHYSICIAN CONSORT, INVINCIBLE, AND THIS GAME IS TOO REALISTIC!
Hey guys!
We're hosting an AMA with Blip of WuxiaWorld! He's been in the scene for many years, quietly pushing out chapters for some of the most interesting novels on the scene. Including Poison Physician's Consort, which was diabolically underrated when it was coming out and is still not talked about as frequently as it should be. Phenomenal novel.
He's also worked on Invincible, Splitting the Heavens, and is currently translating This Game Is Too Realistic on WuxiaWorld.
As always, this AMA post will go up first to allow you guys to submit questions. The AMA itself will go live at 9:00 Eastern Standard Time on May 17th, 2026 and run either for 48 hours or until Blip decides he's done answering questions.
He's also written up a little intro post for you guys because he's been a diligent but behind-the-scenes translator until now and has decided to use this avenue to get to know the community more and let the community get to know him more. Here it is:
>Hey everyone, it’s your translatorman Blip up to my latest antics again, bringing you this AMA.
>Here’s some background on me if you’re interested.
>I’ve been part of the webnovel scene for quite a while now, long enough to remember reading classics like Coiling Dragon back when translations were still a rarity. I actually started out reading in Chinese, but over time, I realized I wanted to share the same stories I enjoyed with a wider audience. That’s what led me to begin translating with Wuxiaworld in 2020. Though the years before that were a blur, I translated for many smaller groups before who worked for webnovel and smaller websites!
>Officially, I’ve been translating since some time in 2018, but blip only came to live recently! Of the older books I’ve read, Invincible was part of those that captured my interest at the very start with Huang Xiaolong’s twin dragons, but life soon got a little busy for me to continue reading religiously. Who knew I would actually be approached right after finishing Poison Physician Consort to continue the translation for Invincible! You can only imagine how excited I was (trying to sound as casual as possible in my reply btw). > some screenshots I conveniently dug up for this >
>Actually, half the novels I’ve translated in WW, if you noticed, were part of ongoing projects where the original translator either needed help or where WW took over the translation entirely! I have no idea how time flew so quickly, but we wrapped up so many book already!
>As for myself… :D
>Actually, I have no idea what the stereotype of being a translator is, but if it’s anything like being a gamer and cooped up in front of my computer, it’s wildly different for me. HAHA I actually love the outdoors, and even though I always like to say stuff like “translating is where I get to escape from my busy and stressful life,” going out and being active is more my kind of vibe. Some of the more passionate things I’m into is traveling, and I’ve been traveling quite a lot while translating! Mainly around Southeast Asia, since I’m in the area, and my dream one day is to actually learn the languages around! Think: Thai, Japanese, Bahasa… Currently, I have very basic listening abilities to both Thai and Japanese, but have been working on it for a while now. WHY would I like to learn these languages you might wonder, and I would say that’s a good question! (AMA myself now) but… the basic answer would be I like to travel to these countries and being able to converse with them would be much more convenient when ordering a coffee or asking where’s a good place to eat! BTW, my favorite cuisines are: Chinese, Japanese, Thai, in that order, feel free to change my mind!
>Also, for readers of my later 2 novels, I believe you’ve seen how much I love interacting with all of you and coming up with events for the books. Hahaha, recently, the prizes for the Chinese New Year writing competition for This Game is Too Realistic ended up with someone getting a set of mechanical keyboard and giant mousepad, the EXACT same series I’m using while translating! The art competition before saw a bunch of CASH prizes going out, so if anyone’s interested in reading what I do, :) you know where to get fun prizes!
>At the end of the day, translating isn’t just about the text for me, it’s about recreating the experience of discovering a great story for the first time, and hopefully passing that feeling on to others.
NOTE: BLIP WILL BEGIN ANSWERING QUESTIONS AT 9:00PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME ON MAY 17th, 2026!
You can start submitting questions for Blip as soon as this AMA post appears on the subreddit. This is highly encouraged because it gives Blip time to look over the questions and start thinking of his answers, and also so the rest of you can comment and participate when Blip starts answering questions instead of typing out your own posts.
