Greg from USA called and was wonderful.

I want to thank USA because I enjoy using them, and I'm glad we could rectify this.

It was a very unfortunate situation, and I appreciate USA being understanding about the fact I was not at my best in that moment, and that their employees could have done better too.

It's wonderful when a company admits they didn't do their best, either did I, and you can come to an amicable resolve.

It's so nice to know they still care about their customers/patients which can be hard to find nowadays.

I had a surreal experience at USA imaging today, and I am utterly disgusted at the abuse these people think is ok.

I had to Uber because I'm too dizzy and having severe heart palps that I can't drive. I had an appt at 8 am for imaging and USA said they received all of my chart from my PCP but not the imaging order.

My doctor's office said they sent the order 3 times. See where this is going?

Then the old lady injects herself into the mix.

She tells me in my compromised state to call my doctor and tell them to send the imaging orders. I said ok and asked if she can please call too. She glared at me.

I didn't see her on the phone so I called and it was a total ordeal. Never once did anyone tell me I was talking loudly or to be quiet or anything. When my doctor's office called to resend the imaging orders that old lady got pissed at what I said to the doctor's office so she started berating me after she hung up the phone right in the lobby.

I asked her why she couldn't call my doctor and get the imaging order herself and she told me I need to learn how to advocate for myself.

Read that again.

That's what she said to me. She then called for security I'm not kidding.

I said am I being kicked out and she said in the most evil - and entitled - tone and glare if I wanted you out you would be gone.

WTF???

So an hour later and I'm still sitting there and they finally come to get me and there's a security guard.

They said I have to be escorted at all times by a security guard - for what I have no clue.

Because some old lady decided she thinks she might have been slighted.

And of course USA did nothing!

I had to leave because I refused the mandatory security escort.

One old witch should not be able to upset and harass someone so badly to the point they walk out and don't even get their imaging.

I really thought I might have a heart attack they upset me so badly when I'm already struggling.

This is no way to treat people, and that lady has no business having a job around people.

Do better USA because that woman didn't just start being like that - you have given her cover long enough that she feels perfectly comfortable doing that in the lobby in front of people and on camera which I have begged USA to watch.

And when I asked the 3 front desk people to please call the office manager - they refused.

Don't let business get used to treating people this way.

This is ridiculous!

It's supposed to be extremely hot this week. Our animal friends, both wild and domestic, need us to help them out in times like these.

If you know of a vulnerable dog or cat check on it if you can to make sure it's ok and has water and shade.

Remember a few years ago on an 80 degree day here in Mobile and there was video of a dog dying from a heat stroke because he was left in the direct sun, no shade, with no water?

Animals need human intervention sometimes. Speak up and offer assistance.

Leave out water bowls for wildlife and strays, and make sure they're low enough where yard turtles can get access.

Stay cool and be a friend to the critters.

A group of conservative activists Wednesday registered objections to the federal rescheduling of marijuana with the Alabama Department of Public Health.

In May, the committee objected to the rescheduling to allow for the public and stakeholders to give their input on the decision.

It's a shame this happened.

It's a shame that the Salvation Army didn't reach out to the community, or possibly the city, to ask for support to keep this much needed shelter in operation.

Doo or Do?

I would like to see the Do/o Dah Day parade brought back to life with dogs, cats, small animals, and small to medium sized ponies.

For those of y'all that don't know the Do/o Dah Day parade is an animal parade, costume contest, vendor/sponsor gathering that went on for about 7 yrs and then stopped because it was too much work for the Mobile SPCA to put on with little financial profit.

So starting this parade up again would need to focus on improving attendance and increasing revenue through things like sponsorships and vendors etc.

I'm going to try to do a little mock up proposal laying out building up financial support through various avenues (including raffles, sponsors, vendors, events, donations) community outreach to increase attendance through media and local business sponsors, animal contests (dock diving, agility, costume contest, cutest tail, frisbee).

This is not my forte so if anyone is interested in writing a proposal to bring back Do/o Dah Day parade and submit it to the Mobile SPCA that would be great.

And it would let the SPCA know there is community interest and support.

It would be so much fun.

Please let's do this! But not in the summer.

Edit- could the braided river brewery do the parade if the spca doesn't want to?

I want a beer garden and music so maybe the spca isn't the best host.

Times are unprecedented and so is the cruelty. For hope, I think about the White Buffalo Calf born in Yellowstone in June 4, 2024, Wakan Gli, which means Sacred Return.

Spoiler alert - the calf hasn't been seen in the wild since that picture in 2024, but the prophecy has still been fulfilled. Even the Sacred White Buffalo Calf couldn't stand it on this Earth in its current form.

I just went inside a chipotle and attempted to order a quesadilla.

They informed me that I could not order a quesadilla because they're made at a different "station" in the store. I was informed the only way I could get a quesadilla in the chipotle I was literally standing in is if I downloaded the app and then ordered the quesadilla that way.

We've jumped the shark as a society.

Too much technology and change can be a stupid, bad thing.

I had a patty melt instead.

Shelters are inundated with strays the day after July 4th, and many never make it back home.

Fireworks are traumatizing to wildlife, pets, and people. Hopefully one day we can have their beauty but without the traumatic noise.

Have a plan for your pet that limits the exposure and trauma of fireworks, make sure they can't escape, bring outside pets in, turn the TV on or play music to help drown out the noise, get sedatives from your vet, and help educate others so we can hopefully limit the trauma and number of lost pets.
