I've been binge watching TVD and I am on s7. What confused me (amongst all other things that were confusing through the binge) was why the twins were transferred into Caroline's womb. That was so random to me.

I mean I understand that the actress was pregnant for real at that time and they had to write her pregnancy into the storyline, but still she was a random choice. And I guess the twins had to live so that they can shoot the spinoff series - Legacies (yet to watch)?
