Agrestic, bucolic fragrances

I recently managed to get my hands on a bottle of Seville a l'Aube by L'Artisan Parfumeur and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. On top of that, Carduus by Jorum has become a scent I keep coming back to, primarily because I find it so interesting and challenging and never really know what I think of it. It’s led me to do a bit of a deep dive into agrestic, bucolic smelling fragrances, fougeres with a difference. I just wondered if anyone else out there was a fan of these more herbaceous, meadow like scents and if there are any you’d recommend? More straight forward, linear scents, or super weird experimental scents… I’m open to everything.

Euan McCall fragrances (Jorum Studios, Senyokô, Nuori)

Euan McCall is the perfumer behind Jorum Studios. He’s also been involved in creations for Senyoko, Neandertal, and Nuori. I’ve been super impressed by his output over the last few years. He’s come up with some incredibly beautiful fragrances, Paradisj and Trimerous for Jorum and The Grudge by Beaufort in particular. He’s also been responsible for some incredibly difficult, polarising perfumes. Personally I found Us by Neandertal unwearable; impressively photorealistic bonfire / burnt ruins vibes, but so overwhelming I couldn’t imagine ever wearing it. For the most part he’s super experimental and unpredictable and I’ve really come to appreciate that, even when something doesn’t work for me, so I just wondered what everyone else’s views of Euan’s work were. Any personal favorites, recommendations, perplexing experiences (good and bad)?

Fragrance Tour of Japan... suggestions

I’m going to be in Japan for most of September and October, and I wondered if any of you fine folks had any suggestions when it comes to places to check out across the country related to perfume or incense? I know Kyoto is well known for its incense / fragrance culture, and would happily take any tips for doing a bit of a fragrance pilgrimage around Kyoto, but if there are any other things / places / niche houses I should check out, let me know. It would be most appreciated!

Similar to Neandertal Light

This has become something of a signature scent for me. It's a hard scent to pin down. I've smelled other metallic scents and this has always felt like the most photorealistic (or maybe the most pleasant?) interpretation of what that smells like. A lot of metallic scents I've sampled tend to feel like a blunt chemical assault, overly industrial as opposed to the feeling of a clean sheet of chrome. It has a sharp, almost zingy freshness to it. First time I sampled it I actually thought it had a cucumber smell. For a fragrance that's supposed to be difficult, in the last few months I've honestly gotten more compliments about this one than another other. If there are any other folks out there who happen to have smelled Neandertal Light and know anything that smells somewhat similar, please let me know!

Paris trip - Relique D'Amour OR Reve d'Ossian?

A friend of mine is going to be in Paris this week and is going to visit the Oriza L. Legrand store for me while they're there. Incense fragrances are my passion and I've heard both these fragrances are incense-like, but I'm wondering about which one to get as opinions seem to differ on these two. I prefer incense scents that have a Catholic church vibe like Avignon and Cardinal. Any thoughts?

Also, are there any other incense scents available in Paris / France that are maybe harder to find elsewhere?

Fragrances like Carmelite by Trudon

Carmelite by Trudon is one of my favorite scented candles of all time. It's an extremely nostalgic smell for me, which weirdly takes me back to a christmas decoration I loved when I was a child. I know Trudon make fragrances as well as candles, but unless I'm missing something, I don't think they've ever made a Carmelite fragrance. I just wondered if anyone might know of any fragrances that smell the same, if not very similar? Thanks!
