Looking to discover new indie houses. What are your recommendations?

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to click with most designer releases or even mainstream niche. I still think a lot of them smell nice, but they aren't adding anything new or unique to my collection.

Likes - Most animalics (ambergris, civet, castoreum, deer musk), Trees! (Fir, pine, hinoki, cypress, etc.), Incense, Ink, Lavender, Citrus, Green Apple, Neroli, oakmosss, Petrichor/Geosmin, oakmoss, Herbal aromatics, Resins, and oakmoss.

I'm also VERY into vintage designers. Polo, Tsar, Mitsouko, Samsara, Chanel No 19, Cool Water, Drakkar Noir, Antaeus, Kouros.

Dislikes - Vanilla as the main character, coconut, cannabis, most mango/papaya/etc.

Here are a few I enjoy and recommend...

Anomalous Parfums
Clandestine Laboratories
Toskovat
Fischersund
Rogue
Pineward
Katana
Jinx

Mysterious Foggy-Forest vibes?

Hey there fragrance enjoyers! I really want to experience a summer-fall parfume with mysterious foggy-forest vibes to it, like you are walking down a foggy dark pine forest with a little ozonic touch to it, can anybody help? Also it would be really nice if it would also last 4 hours or so 🫠

Individuals? Small houses?

I’ve recent discovered Genre, Covenant Scents and Yora. All are smaller houses or even independent perfumers making great quality stuff. Who else do you know of that are developing and putting out quality stuff? Thank you.

Perfume that smells like orgeat?

One of my favorite cocktail ingredients, that tastes *and* smells so delicious is orgeat. It’s basically a sweet syrup made from almond milk, sugar, almond extract, and orange blossom water, used in tiki cocktails. I’d love any recommendations anyone has for an indie (or niche) cruelty-free/vegan perfume that has this (nutty/sweet/orange blossom/white floral) scent profile! Thanks 😊 🍹

PPWR might be killing the Indie Perfume Scene in the EU

I really hate to be making this post, but I feel like we should address it. For my fellow Europeans who might have missed it: The EU has agreed on a new packaging and waste regulation (PPWR) which will become effective on August 12th.

The Problem: either deliberately or through a massive overlook of the EU this does not only affect the big players such as Amazon but basically every single small business

Why is this a problem? According to this new law, sellers have to pay for a "representative" (doing lord knows what) overlooking the whole affair - in EVERY single country they want to ship to. Meaning they would have to pay 27 (!) annual additional fees starting from 15 to 150 Euros per country (as far as I know) if they want to send their items to every country in the EU. Impossible if you only have a small business selling Indie perfumes on Etsy with a couple sales per country.

The consequences? Countless businesses like the Swedish perfume brand Dark Tales are currently announcing on social media that they will stop selling within the EU altogether or at least to most of EU countries. Which is horribly depressing for so many reasons. Not at least because this comes as another severe blow after tariffs have already affected buying from and selling to the US.

I would therefore like to ask one thing: please inform yourselves about PPWR and consider signing the following petition. https://www.change.org/p/stop-destroying-eu-micro-businesses-immediate-moratorium-on-cross-border-epr-fees

Thank you for reading this.
