Link's Awakening 60fps 1.1.0

Just wanted to share that I uploaded a 60fps patch compatible with version 1.1.0 of Link's Awakening. Turns out, it was as simple as updating the game ID from 1.0.1. Hope others can find some use out of it.

[NES] NESRGB 5.0 - Background Palette Only?

I just installed NESRGB 5.0 on my frontloader and have no audio/video from my multi-out and only the background from the stock composite jack. I’m using the Laserbear Voultar multi-out kit. I’ve otherwise followed this guide from Long Island Retro: https://youtu.be/EWu0yiH9V5Y?si=SBMYydbeICDIuJNJ

I’ll admit that I struggled to get the PPU out, so I immediately blamed the PPU and switched to a “known working” PPU from eBay which has the same exact issue. I also tried simply “plugging” these PPUs into the NESRGB socket which made a garbled mess (in color). I blame the lack of solid connection.

Is there any other component on the board that may be a concern? I tried directing hot air only at the PPU, but curious what else to check nearby (if anything).

EDIT: composite is supposed to look this way. The reason my multi-out wasn’t working is because I installed the ribbon cable from Voultar’s kit upside down…

DIY Component Switch Box

Many have recommended using two composite switch boxes as a stand-in for component (using one box for video and one for audio) so I just wanted to share a project where I 3D printed a shell with buttons for a clean “one device” solution.

Cheers and happy gaming!
