Intel Iris Xe Graphics Driver causes black screen on IdeaPad 3 15ITL6 (Windows 11 25H2)
Hey everyone, my IdeaPad 3 15ITL6 (Type 82H8, Intel Core i5 Tiger Lake, 11th gen) has been stuck on Microsoft Basic Display Adapter for weeks because every time the Intel Iris Xe driver (version 31.0.101.5522) installs, it causes a complete black screen crash with no cursor or display output. The system freezes entirely and requires a hard shutdown.
Ran Lenovo Service Bridge hardware diagnostics. 15/18 components passed, 3 not found (absent hardware). No memory errors, no storage errors, no display hardware faults. RAM tested via Windows Memory Diagnostic (mdsched), no errors found. So hardware is confirmed healthy.
Also ran DISM and SFC in Safe Mode, both came back clean with no corruption found. Rebuilt BCD, repaired EFI partition, no change. The crash only happens when Intel Iris Xe driver is active. Microsoft Basic Display Adapter runs perfectly stable.
Tried blocking via registry using Hardware ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9A49&SUBSYS_3F9C17AA&REV_03 but Windows Update keeps pushing the driver back. Currently have Windows Update fully disabled as a workaround.
Running Windows 11 25H2. Latest Lenovo driver for this model is still 31.0.101.5522 from August 2025, no newer version available. Has anyone found a working driver version or a fix for this? Any help appreciated!
