Ordered this from Costco. Seemed like a good deal that will meet my needs for an MBA program.

I am starting an MBA program catered for mid to senior level professionals this fall, which is a hybrid program will require about 5+ weeks of on-site instruction spread out over the course of a year.

The program requires a student-purchased laptop with admin privelages. I work in cybersecurity, so I have both a company-issued laptop (no admin privelages) and a "field work" laptop (basically a $6k+ souped-up gaming laptop with admin privelages).

However, I wanted my own laptop specificly to use for this MBA program. After extensive research, I decided a Lenovo ThinkPad would best meet my needs for an MBA program, specifically the ruggedness, portability, battery life, it's the best fit for the tasks I will be doing, etc.

I ordered this one from Costco. It seemed like a pretty good deal. I went to the Lenovo website and built out the same model to the Costco specs, and it came out to about $2500. So, this seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Costco also extends the warranty to 2 years and has a 90 day return policy.

What do you guys think. It's already shipped and on its way. Was it a good buy?

Should i sue Lenovo at this point?

Tl;dr lenovo denied my DOA claim despite acknowledging a hardware defect then botched the repair job.

Hi everyone,

I’m posting this to see if anyone has dealt with something similar with Lenovo / Premium Care / authorized service providers.

I bought a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i a few months ago and Within the first 14 days, I noticed a fan issue: whenever the fans started spinning, there was a short but clear screeching / grinding noise.

Because the issue appeared immediately after purchase, I requested DOA handling. The laptop was sent to Lenovo’s local authorized service provider in Israel, CPM. They claimed the laptop was working normally and refused to approve DOA. I asked to speak with the person who tested it so I could understand how the fan noise was checked, but they refused. When I got the laptop back, the same fan noise continued, so I refused to confirm that the issue was resolved.

Around three months later, they contacted me again and asked if the problem was solved. I said no, because the fan noise was still there. They asked me to send another video of the same symptom. After I sent it, they suddenly decided to send an on-site technician to replace the fan.

This is where I have a big problem, if the fan really needed replacement, then my original DOA complaint was valid. But they told me DOA was no longer possible because three months had passed, even though I reported the exact same issue during the DOA window and never accepted the case as resolved.

The actual repair also concerned me. The technician opened the laptop, replaced the fan, but did not clean the old thermal material residue from cpu/gpu and refused to clean the thermal putty on other components, even after I told him that leaving residue could affect heatsink contact. He dismissed my concerns and said that if I had a problem with what I was seeing, I should talk to Lenovo.

He then used GD900-1 thermal paste on the CPU/GPU. I later checked Lenovo’s Hardware Maintenance Manual for this exact model, and it appears Lenovo specifies PTM7958 for the CPU/GPU areas and HGF-350 / XPG0001-type thermal gel for other thermal-interface areas. I cannot find any Lenovo source saying GD900-1 is approved for CPU/GPU use on this model and spoke with the local Lenovo support about this, they told me the thermal paste they used is approved and they said it’s written in the website and then they sent me a chatgpt comparison between the thermal paste that they used and the thermal putty XPG0001 for some reason, and refused to send me any proof that the material that they used is actually approved for my model by lenovo.

Afterwards, I saw high temperature spikes and thermal throttling in HWiNFO. I showed Lenovo evidence, but Lenovo Israel/CPM still insists the service was done according to their guidelines. When I ask for a Lenovo document proving GD900-1 is approved for CPU/GPU use on this exact model, I only get vague answers from the costumer support and they still refuse to send any proof or documents that the service job and the materials that were used according to Lenovo’s guidelines.

Now Lenovo support is dodging my concerns and telling me that the service job was done properly and the laptop works normally despite me disputing both these claims.

Should i sue Lenovo at this point? I’ve already sent a complaint to the consumer protection and fair trade authority in my country but to my knowledge the outcome won’t necessarily force Lenovo to comply.

Abnormal heating in LOQ

Hello fellow Lenovo users,
This is my 2-month-old Lenovo LOQ i7-13650HX RTX 4050. Recently, I’ve started noticing unnecessary heat in the area marked in the picture.
I’m a student, so while browsing, preparing Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, and other light tasks. Even during these, that area gets noticeably warm…During gaming its normal but while doing such normal tasks, it feels abnormal..

Usually the battery is located around this area. Could it be the battery that’s heating up? Is this normal, or should I be concerned?
People who use this same model, please tell me…..
My friend uses a Ryzen 7435HS RTX 4050 LOQ…But he doesn’t have this abnormality in his laptop…

Lenovo LOQ 15ARP9 nightmare

My LOQ 15ARP9 would freeze whenever it was left idle or put to sleep. I reported it to Lenovo, and they tried every software fix they could think of, then unnecessarily replaced the motherboard twice. The issue still wasn't fixed, and during one of the repairs the technician physically damaged my laptop.

After a month of constant calls, emails, and follow-ups, Lenovo finally assigned a senior engineer. He identified the real cause, and two days later Lenovo released a BIOS update that fixed the sleep issue on July 2—proving it was never a hardware problem.

Today, my laptop has suddenly gone completely dead.

I've wasted countless hours chasing support, suffered damage to my laptop during service, and lost valuable study time. As a CSE student, my laptop is essential, and this entire experience with Lenovo has been incredibly frustrating.

How to fix I2C HID device code 10 laptop - lenovo yoga slim 6i?

Hi guys, does anyone know how to fix this problem that happens every now and then on lenovo yoga slim 6i. Last time I got charged $150 asking someone to fix it , they said something about it being a software problem then they fixed it. Then this problem happened again last month and the laptop magically fixed it on its own after a week and now it happened again. I swear this is so annoying because I can't use my touch pad. So I'd really appreciate if anyone would kindly give me some advice on how to deal will this because I'm a student and it seriously affects my life in a lot of ways. Thank you very much!

why is my laptop's boot time so long as compared to other similar laptops?

laptop - Lenovo thinkpad X1 yoga gen 3

serial number - 20LGS05A00

CPU - intel i7-8650U 8th gen

my laptop takes a long time to boot into the lock screen(more than 30 seconds), but after that its pretty fast. my friend has a lenovo laptop with a worse cpu, but with more vram, that boots so much faster. what is causing this and is there any way to fix this?

Cannot install M2 2280 on Lenovo Yoga pro 9i gen 11

I tried both Samsung 990 Pro 1TB (single side chip) and Kingston Fury 2TB (double side chip) and none of them work. I cannot completely close the back plate with the M2 SSD installed. There a small gap as you can see on the 3d photo, that side of the back plate just doesn’t click in. I have tried many options but still cannot get it to works . The back plate clicked in perfectly as soon as I removed the ssd. I tried to looked under the gap but could not see anything that gets in the way. I can close the back plate if I push it down with force and then screw it down but I’m afraid it may cause an issue.

Is there anyone that successfully install m2 ssd in the Gen 11? I checked on Youtube but could not find any instruction video for this model. Any help is greatly appreciate. Thank you.

Six months in still no regrets on the T14

Figured I'd post an update since I've had more time with it now.

Nothing dramatic to report, which is honestly the point. It's still running the same as day one. No weird slowdowns creeping in, no thermal issues, battery hasn't noticeably degraded. For a work machine that gets used hard every day, that's kind of all I can ask for.

The keyboard is still the highlight for me. I do a lot of writing and the longer I use it, the more I notice how much worse other laptop keyboards feel when I have to use them. Not sure I can go back.

One thing I've come around on is the weight. It's not a light laptop, and at first I noticed it in my bag. After a few months I genuinely don't think about it anymore. Feels like a tradeoff I'd make again.

The speakers are still the weakest part. I've just accepted it and keep earbuds nearby. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing going in.

If anyone's on the fence about it, especially for work use, I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's the kind of laptop that stops being something you think about and just becomes part of your routine. Mine's basically invisible to me now, which I think is a good sign.

Lenevo ideapad gaming does not starts

Last night the laptop was working fine. But this morning it just does not start. The screen is black, I tried connecting it with a monitor but that didn't help either, most probably the screen is not the issue. The fans are working, I opened the panel, cleaned the fan, and ram. Removed battery and then tried without it but no help.

Please help guys, how can I wake this bro up.

Legion 5 Pro Screen Rubber Coming Off

Hello, I just wanted to ask what the possible solution is for this issue. The rubber around my screen is slowly coming off. I think it might be because I usually close the laptop lid immediately after using it, even while it's still hot. Since the laptop has an aluminum chassis, it tends to retain and transfer heat. My laptop model is the Legion 5 Pro.

I'm hoping for your recommendations. Thank you!
