The biggest opening day and the biggest single day ever probably both by gross and admissions.

The Odyssey added on its third Thursday $196k with 42% drop and $6.31 mln total. 1.01 mln admissions in 15 days. Still making huge money for Russian theaters with unofficial release.

As for other local news a major distributor demanded from theaters not to show pirated copies of Spider-Man: Brand New Day up to August, 20. Apparently everyone should watch instead another russian big budgeted fantasy Kolobok, which will be released on August, 6. And you know that every foreign release is an enemy of russian films. At least this is what offcials and many producers think and sometimes even openly declare.

With typical unofficial release Spidey would bring huge crowds to theaters. And of course owners and managers are not happy with such demands.

Great holds for all films with more or less good word of mouth. Backrooms passed Paddington 3 to become seventh biggest foreign release after March of 2022. Obsession reached 11 multiplyer. Better than expected opening for In The Hand of Dante but still nothing to be particularly excited.

Evil Dead Burn will open on Thursday. A rather interesting case and quite difficult to predict. Russia was the 2nd biggest foreign marker for Evil Dead in 2013 but I do not see any advertising and presales do not look good.

Very good fifth weekend for Backrooms. 756.6 mln RUB or $10.29 mln in 32 days, 9th best result for foreign releases since March of 2022. Russia is the fifth best foreign market after Mexico, UK, China and Australia.

Obsession did outstanding business in its 7th weekend. Basically stayed flat, most likely will increase a bit with actuals. Climbed from 6th to 4th place in the chart.

In CIS countries Toy Story 5 won third weekend in a row. Added $377k with just 17% drop and 2.11 mln total.

Better than usual Saturday across the board, with foreign releases generally benefiting more than local films.

Michael added 38.35 million RUB ($497k) yesterday, dropping just 13% from last Saturday. Projections for its 6th weekend have increased to around $1.47 million, which would most likely make it the second-biggest 6th weekend ever for a foreign release, behind only Avatar.

The film has now reached 1.729 billion RUB ($23.69 million) in Russia after 38 days, with 3,177,903 admissions.

Including all CIS countries, the total stands at 2.084 billion RUB ($28.5 million) and 4,056,616 admissions, ranking No. 31 on the all-time chart. With today's grosses already added in real time, it has surpassed Frozen II and should climb to No. 28 by the end of the day.

Backrooms also had a good Saturday, while Obsession delivered an exceptionally strong performance, falling by less than 1% from last Saturday. It continues to do excellent business across the CIS countries despite the availability of all Hollywood blockbusters there.

Another 36% drop for a Russian blockbuster Son of a Rich 3. Will make around 1/4 of the sequel final gross, even worse in admissions.

Backrooms will surpass $10 mln this week. 693.3 mln RUB or $9.5 mln in 25 days. Most likely tomorrow will beat The Drama (710,3 mln RUB) and became the biggest A24 release ever in the market.

Another excellent week for Obsession with just 16% drop. $390.7 mln RUB or $5.38 mln in 39 days. An okay opening for The Get Out or Bear Country, Colony dropped hard in Russia but opened well in CIS countries.

All four local premieres aimed for the same family audience and bombed or did mediocre at very best. Toy Story 5 is available for watching in many russian theaters but I don't see much excitement about it. Already mentioned that Toy Story franchise is not very popular in the russian-speaking world.

Weekend June 25-28 box office for CIS countries. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
