What I'm looking for is a book of terms, definitions, descriptions / uses and properties of different styles and materials (from flooring, to furniture, different stones / tiles and their properties, curtain/shade styles, wall finishes, fixture finishing, etc.). The standard heights of particular furniture's and fixtures, materials, what fabrics can be used where and how. I want to be able to identify (in my mind or person) exactly what a particular space needs, in detail. So when I'm out looking for materials/styles, I can speak the lingo and I understand the properties of certain materials to know if they'll work well in a particular space (like the differences between granite, quartz and marble counter tops, etc.). Also if the books includes details about technicalities like electrics and plumbing details how they go about etc. ALSO I'm looking for a bit Indian version as the standard heights or materials etc do differ a bit when it comes to the global market . SO I basically want a book that does have details and everything based on the Indian market of interior design be it the standard heights of placement of fixtures or plywood thickness etc etc .
Is there such a book out there? If so, can someone point me in its direction?
