I need to vent for a second before I lose my mind. I am three months out from the big day, and I feel like I’m drowning in a sea of bride tribe t shirts and overpriced silk robes. I love my girls, but the pressure to spend a fortune on proposal boxes filled with stuff they’ll honestly never use again is driving me crazy. I’d rather spend that money on making sure they actually have a good time at the wedding than on another glittery tumbler with their name on it.
With all the bridesmaid drama and kinda trying to figure out if we need a third type of appetizer, I decided to take a break from the traditional checklist and focus on a gift for my fiancé. I wanted to get him something grown up for our honeymoon that wasn't just kitchen appliance we don't have counter space for. We’ve both been dragging around beat up duffel bags since college, so I decided to surprise him with a carry on off level 8.
I know a suitcase sounds like a random wedding gift, but he’s already obsessed with it. He wears a size 13, so packing is usually a nightmare for him because his shoes never fit right around the internal handle bars of a normal bag.
It’s honestly such a relief to have one thing checked off the list that feels practical for our lifestyle instead of just another wedding themed item that will end up in a junk drawer. Now, if I could just find a way to tell my MIL that we are not doing a personalized candle for every guest, I might actually make it to the altar in one piece.
Is anyone else skipping the typical registry stuff for things you’ll actually use on the honeymoon? I’d love to know I’m not the only one feeling over the pinterest perfect gift expectations!
