I want to start hatching eggs or even some live birds but I don't know where to get them.

For context I'm in Illinois.

I want to preface this by saying I'm new to everything and still in the planning phase of it all.

​​I don't plan to have a huge flock and I've been looking at coturnix quail and noticed cages mentioned for more compacted spaces but I genuinely don't know what is good or what I should be looking for. Could I get some advice?
