Over 1 week old and zero growth. Anyone else have this happen?

These three are from 2 separate hatches, the biggest and smallest were hatched 9 days ago, the striped one 7 days ago.
The littlest one hasn't grown a smidge yet! It's eating, drinking, scratching, doing everything else the other quail do, except growing. Still baby fluff, no signs of feathers yet but the others all have feathers coming in.
Has anyone else had this happen before?
Any guesses (or valid knowledge) as to why this might happen?

Do I reserve a day to cull or just do it?

What is the most humane method to dispatch a quail and should I reserve a day for it or just do it. I fear I keep hesitating but most of boys are aggressive and tbh I feel indifferent about most of them bc of how mean they are.

1. Incubator \ 2. How to deal with Rooster problems?

I currently have 7 quails in total, 2 quails are roo and 5 are hens. The ratio is way off, I need to fix this, but culling is not an option (I feel so 😔 bad) and I no one wants him lol.

I have a smaller cage inside the aviary that I used (in the recent past) to fix bullying behaviors between hens. I thought that I could isolate the least "productive" roo inside, he will have direct access to the flock by being able to communicate with them, smell etc, but no pecking, breeding or fighting. He basically will have a watch-only arrangement. Would this be a good solution?

I noticed that my eggs have a small white dot inside, this should indicate that they are fertile. I would like to hatch more chicks and grow them to be adult quails, perhaps with the possibility of getting this roo settled in with the rest of this, imaginary for now, extended flock. What incubator could I buy while being on a budget!?

Help with quail run and coop advice - Quails stopped laying eggs

Hi everyone! I need some help. I’m new to quails and have 3 (1 male and 2 females). I’m trying to add 2 more females because I read somewhere you need a good ratio of males to females to reduce stress on the hens.

I’m looking for some advice on how I should set up my run. This is what I have them in right now and I have a small bird house inside the run where they typically like to sit together. I have a heavy duty tarp over it so it protects from wind and gives them a hide away location/dry space.

Does anyone have advice on what I can do to this run to make it more comfortable for them? They hens have stopped laying eggs completely now. 😔

For food, I give them high protein turkey feed. I recently got some 22% protein poultry feed for them. I also give them mealworms and they barely eat the apples! I also give them lettuce and shredded carrots.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Anyone ever get an absolute unit like this? Is she ok!?

This massive egg had two yolks and insane amount of white. All my quails are about the same size and they are not jumbos. Should I be concerned?

8 week old quails not laying

Hi everyone, our quail are 8, nearly 9, weeks old and still not laying. We constructed an aviary set up for them, and we have 14 total quail, 11 female and 3 males. One male is particularly annoying to the hens but I’m not sure if he could be causing issues or not. They’re fed a mix of 30% protein starter feed and 20% protein game bird feed. They have two water dispensers and two food dishes that are filled daily, they also forage, are free fed calcium, and occasionally get mealworms or soldier fly larva.

We bought three hens from another local farmer and they laid the first day we had them but have since stopped. Is there something I’m doing wrong?

First egg and harvest!

My babies are 6 weeks old and just laid their first egg! How exciting. We also just harvested and ate a bully male 2 days ago. Pretty crazy how I hatched these from eggs and now the circle of life is coming around!

Discreet quail keeping

Do you think one would be able to keep quails if we are fence to fence with our neighbours? Because of some restrictions keeping them in the full open would be hard. Is it worth a shot or are hens also loud?

Is she fixable? Or do I have to kill her? :(

First time breeding and raising quail. On of the little ones (half a day old) does not walk on its toes. It does not walk it just pushes itself around with its knees... Some of the younger ones can walk after 30 minutes..

Can I help her somehow? Or do I have to kill her?

Show your sleepy quails!

Zebra and Joffrey (hidden Kiwi) naptime, I love how floppy they get and how they stretch their legs out. Too cute. Do you have pictures of your quails sleeping?

How to Tame a bully

I have a hen that is being quite a bully to her flock. I introduced 8 more hens in their coop of 9 feet by 6 feet then 6 feet tall. I did the math and I can fit around 30 maybe 40 quail so I thought they'd be okay. I dont want more than what I have which is around sixteen hens. I was dealing with her being a meanie before the new girls but it's been a week since they've integrated and shes still angry. I changed the whole layout of the coop and allowed the new hens to have full run of the coop while the older hens stayed in a hutch where they can watch them. Then the other girls didn't care at all but Grape kept chasing everyone and pecking them with whatever chance she got. I've isolated her for three to four days now and would tried to put her with them around the time the sun goes down. She can see them in the hutch and often watches them so I thought she'd be good. Everyone was terrified of her and when I put her away theyre all calm. I think it's because its spring time and they're hormonal. How do I stop her from being mean? Should I isolate her for a couple more days?

How to find people to help cull

I culled my first male about two weeks ago and it still makes me sad. I'm just a big baby in general but I still have too many males and I want to cull them. I have Acron who is on the nicer side that I might keep. But Butternut, Mimi, skippy and Mango constantly call which annoys my neighbor. They're always fighting too. I reduced the sunlight and built a separate coop just for the boys, twenty feet from the hens.

However, they can't even get along, they always chase each other. Then stay alone in their own cages most of the day. It's just temporary until I can cull them. I think I want to cull all of them even though Ive had Mimi and skippy for a year already. But Mimis' wing has been injured since last year and he can't fly. Then Skippy is just a dick to everyone. How do I find quail groups in Southern California that could help me dispatch the males for me? I'd rather watch and learn than make a mistake doing it because I feel like I made a lot of mistakes for my first time. Do you think butchers would do it for me? I just feel bad and want them to show compassion towards them while culling. I think rn they're just unhappy and I'm indirectly harming them by keeping them even though they're aggressive.

Mijn kwartels leggen nauwlijks eitjes
