Males sitting on eggs

Excuse the awful picture, I didnt want to get close and disturb him. I was surprised to see the male actively paying attention to the egg, rolling it u der him, putting his foot on it trying to position it. Hes now sitting on it and hasnt left the corner where it is since she laid it. I know this is a male, he crows, mates, all the gubbins. Is this usual? I heard buttons rarely sit eggs, let alone a guy?! Im going to clean the enclosure shortly and I'm hoping it doesnt scare him off sitting, since it would be cool if he did.

Anybody else having issues with "murder she solved?" By pavilion books?

Sorry if this isn't allowed, I'm only 3 scenes in but already can't solve one (even with allowing myself to fill in a few sq from the back) and have had to look at answers for two others, and STILL don't get why they arrived at those answers.

Scene 3 puzzle one:

What is the code for the door? It is a four digit number, and no digit repeats in the code. Here are two guesses at the code:

9713

8394

Each of these guesses contain two digits that appear in the correct code and in the same position, as well as two digits that do not appear in the code at all. Given this, what is the door code?

Ive looked at the answer and can't really see how they got there. How would you solve this?

Scene 3, puzzle nine (pictured):

What am I doing wrong here? The answer looks nothing like mine but even looking at the answer I cannot tell how they made their word when it doesn't match the numbers they gave.

It doesn't specify to remove any squares after completing the side numbers so using that logic, their answer isnt possible.

Am I being silly or is there some errors? Eta: I know the picture shows i havent finished the puzzle. I already finished it once then erased it because it's wrong

Sexing white buttons

Ive searched how to specifically sex white buttons but still not sure. Question is, have I been correct to say this is a male? I have my doubts because the vent isn't big, but its bigger than the other very obvious males I have. Theres no red butt feathers at all. Theres also been no sign of any bickering or sexual behaviour now theyre 8 weeks old. I had assumed if this was female I would finally have to separate them but theyre all pretty harmonius, and the others seem to clearly respect and give priority to this individual over resources.

What is this bird doing?

This one bird in the group does this behaviour repeatedly. Most of the time its accompanied by a bobbing of the head that looks like a cat throwing up. It does it the most when laying down. The rest of them never do it. Edit: crop was full and resolved with a very gentle massage. Back to normal now.

At blenheim palace there was plenty of mallards around, but then this random guy all alone. Is he a iuvenile mallard or something else? His pattern looked like a skull.
