Recently switched back to android from apple, looking for an upgrade, located in USA (Tmobile)

I recently switched back to android from apple. Really, it was just the keyboard taht did it for me. I hate the apple keyboard, and trying a 3rd party one like gboard or swiftkey just always resulted in buggy behavior until I went back to the ios keyboard.
I'm located in the USA and just switched back to my old OnePlus 6. Really looking to update to something a little more recent that can work.
I'm open to global phones, and have been looking at the Xiaomi 17 since it supports tmobile bands. The Ultra phones I have seen taht just recently came out seem a bit too large for my liking, but I could be swayed. I was on a 13 mini, so smaller phones are more my jam that tablet adjacent (yes, that is a me problem in the greater scheme of the world.)
Is the mi 17 worth looking into? I know the oneplus 15 is new within the last year, but seems like a pretty sizeable phone as well. Are there any direct competitors to the mi 17? I've also heard there are ads on xiaomi phones, which is a bit of an odd duck to me.
