For context: I have naturally dark hair, I'm half Asian and I know have stubborn hair to lift anyways. I've had a halo highlight of silver bleached hair for over 3.5 years now. All of the dark hair on my head is my natural virgin hair and so just my perimeter is bleached to look as silver or platinum blonde as possible. Because I've had this style for years now and have gotten it professionally done every time I needed my roots retouched, I would say I do now how to manage my expectations on how my hair should look between appointments.
I've been with a new hair stylist recently and I feel like she just can't lift my hair enough to reach the blonde I need to achieve for that chunky silvery/grey highlight. If this is banding, this would be the second time she's left my hair like this which is very disappointing.
I understand that when the roots grow out between appointments that I may see a tiny bit of yellow/brassy tone by the roots, but I used to go to a different hairstylist for years prior and she would never leave such a big chunk of brassy tone by my roots and now I'm considering seeking another stylist all together. This band looks like the roots she bleached (but didn't lift enough) from my last appointment 8 weeks ago.
Should I start looking for a new hairstylist?
