Update: What natural or alt hair colors can I do myself?

Update: What natural or alt hair colors can I do myself?

If you look at my post history you'll see what I was originally aiming for (honey blonde, honey brown, the like) but the hairdresser my mum knows (and probably the only one they'd be willing to pay for said only black or a dark brown is possibly and I hate the idea of both of those rn) I'd prefer to do something natural to appease my parents but if my only option is black or brown I'm just putting on a hijab or something and dying my hair as I please

how to achieve this?

stumbled upon this girl's Instagram and it's literally my dream hair I've had in my head for years! how would I achieve this? and how would you stop the black bleeding into the blonde? how would you separate it?

i have 15 years experience dying my own and friends' hair but am by no means a hair dresser. is it doable at home? currently have split dye black and yellow. any advice is appreciated!! <3

want to transition to purple, help!!

I am so tired of what I have right now and I want to go back to a dark purple. For the pink I used neon pink from iro iro and I don’t quite remember the green that I used. but I want to transition to neon purple from iroiro but I don’t know how to do it safely and in sections that work for my hair. Advice?

I thought olaplex was a gamer changer, especially when used with bleach?

I'm trying to transition to more of a salt and pepper color. I'm naturally a level 1-2 with \~30% grey.

I was using permanent color to cover greys but have since stopped.

I've reached out to a few salons about adding some more grey to my hair. They all seem hesitant which I get. Going from level 1-2 to 9-10 is a lot. I know there is upkeep.

I thought olaplex helped preserve hair integrity while bleaching? My hair is pretty healthy. I stopped lightening it back in 2018.

Advice on school holiday hair colour

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on hair colour for my daughter for the school holidays. she's an alt girl and I think she'd love to do something bold like dark blue or purple. The school only allows "natural hair" colours so it needs to be something that would be mostly gone in about 6-8 weeks and didn't fade out leaving nasty colours behind for ages. I'll add in that we're going on a beach holiday so I'm sure that will speed up the fade process. I won't bleach it as she's only 12 plus I'd be worried about disrupting her wave pattern. Any advice on good products that might work how we want it to? We're in the uk so products available here ideally please. I also value cruelty free/ethical products where possible. TIA

Colour oops - manic panic

I just dyed my hair recently with manic panic in the shades Fire Red and Raven (black), has anyone ever used colour oops on raven before? I wanted to do something temporary but I’m seeing people say that raven specifically has left their hair blue or green. But does anyone know id colour oops will work to get this out?

How to get blonde cool toned

I have been working on getting my blonde streak light enough to tone for months now and I thought it finally was until the people at sallys told me the only way to get the yellow out of my hair is to go brown🥲 I’ve tried wella t18,t19,and t14 with both 10 and 20 vol and none have worked for me. Thinking of grabbing a few ion dyes (snow cap, platinum lace, 9a, and 9mb-which I have been told by Sally’s workers will not work) I know I should trust them but they are also the ones that have fucked up my hair multiple times so I’m skeptical lol and advice on if these dyes/toners will work OR if not any ones that will!!

The first photo is what I would really like but I feel like will be impossible without bleaching which I can’t do anymore or my hair will fry off, but I am okay with the other two. Last two photos are my hair currently

Help! How to dye over this blue?

A month and a half ago, this salon severely messed up my hair. I asked for pastel purple but they dyed it blue :(. When I went back in, they used malibu treatment to attempt to strip the blue, then they used a toner and pulp riot nevermore mixed with some pink pulp riot to dye my hair purple. It came out very nice (see photo 3 -- I apologize for the horrible quality). But now the purple has washed out and I'm left with a greenish/yellowish blue. The color is a tad bit darker than in the photos.

I'm trying to achieve that purple again. I am planning to attempt to strip the blue more with the whole Malibu line (color disrupter, undoo-goo shampoo, malibu C and malibu DDXL -- as per the Malibu's website instructions). I also plan to use Pulp Riot nevermore, mixed with some pulp riot lilac. But I am unsure if I need to use a pink dye and toner like the stylist did last time? Since my hair was around this blue when she dyed it, what toner would she have used, do you think?

I believe the toner was a Redken gloss, and I remember the hair swatches of the toner looked kinda pastel/dusty light purple. Does anyone know what it might have been? Or if I even need it? I would like my color to be as close to the purple in the photo as possible, although I'm fine with it being more cooler toned.

What bleach level would you call this? I want to try various colours but I'm unsure how well they'd work

My hair is naturally a dark red (last pic) and bleaches to this after 40min with loreal quick blue and oreor 20 developer. I've been dying it florescent yellow so far but I want to try other colours and I'm unsure if they would turn out well?

I did try toning it once but it turned a really awful grey colour that didn't play nice with my dye, ended up shaving my head.

Mixing activators for Demi permanent dyes

I have a few tubes of the Igora Vibrance Demi permanent dye that I wish to use but I cannot find the activator for it in store or online. I can however purchase the L’Oréal Dia Activateur which is used for L’Oréal’s Demi permanent dye range. Would it be alright to use them together? I’ve previously only stuck to using dyes and developer/activators for the same range

Thanks!

New hair color plus 6 month regrowth from buzzcut!

At the beginning of the year I shaved my head. It was something I always wanted to do and my hair was already damaged beyond repair from years of coloring.

I challenged myself to 6 months of no cutting and no dyeing, just to watch the grow out progress.
It’s officially been 6 months, so I’ve treated myself to a new dye. It’s so good to have my split dye back.

Photos as follows:

Mixing a cool toned/dusty pastel pink dye?

How do I get cool toned/non peachy pastel pink hair dye? I recently got my hair dyed and it came out this pretty mauvey almost lilacy pink and it’s been fading into a pretty pale pink, but I know I’ll have to retouch it soon and I like to refresh my color myself to save money. I used to use Keracolor’s light pink conditioner but it faded really peachy and I’d like to avoid warmer tones.

I’ve seen people suggesting that I add a light purple (like AF girls night or GDY stoned pony) to light pink dye, but I’ve also seen people suggest adding green to pink dye? And I’ve also seen people suggest mixing a gray (like IroIro platinum or silver) into pink dye to make it more muted?Which of these would get me a cool toned, lilacy dusty pink dye color?

Caring for my platinum hair and beard

hi everyone! So I did it! I bleached my hair and my beard at home. I absolutely love the result.

This picture was taken after the first process. So it looks extremely yellow. I did a second process and then tone it afterwards. But I was trying to clip my beard and I accidentally used the wrong setting on the clippers so I had to shave my beard. I wanted to have a picture that showed the beard too, so that’s why the color looks yellow.

I know that this is gonna be a pain in the ass to maintain for sure, especially the beard, which will grow fast so I want some advice.

first the beard. While I enjoy the look of having a blonde beard the second process made it look white as snow, which definitely aged me and I didn’t love that. I’m thinking of maybe keeping the beard a slightly darker shade of blonde. Maybe like an eight instead of a 10. Since I would have to bleach it more often, I wouldn’t want to damage my skin. are there any adjustments that I could make to make the process of bleaching my beard more gentle and keep it at a slightly deeper blonde?

Second. My hair is so thick and strong and sticks up like a paintbrush. So when it’s not styled, it looks really dry, horrible and chunky. I would love some recommendations on some leaf and conditioners or hydrating styling products that might help repair my hair overtime and also give it more moisture and weight so that it’s not just sticking up in air in clumps.

Thanks!
