Looking for help 🥹
Hello, I am new here. My 61-year-old mother has hypertension. Over the past two months, she experienced severe stress and stopped taking her blood pressure medications. This led to an ischemic stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain, affecting the right side of her body.
However, since the first day of the stroke, she has been able to move her fingers and toes quite well. She managed to write 50 words in a notebook with good handwriting and was able to climb stairs. Nevertheless, there is a noticeable heaviness and slowness in her right hand and leg. I gave her a 'Misbaha' (traditional Arabic prayer beads), cut the string, and asked her to re-thread the beads within 3 minutes; she successfully threaded more than 30 beads, indicating that her motor coordination is intact.
I am confused: Does this mean her brain cells did not die but just went into shock, or are they damaged? Tomorrow is her MRI appointment, and I hope there is no permanent damage. She currently has some difficulty walking; her right foot drops while walking, yet she managed to climb a 12-step staircase on her own. Prior to the stroke, she was taking Prednisolone to reduce inflammation in her shoulder joint.
I would be deeply grateful for any information, insight, supplements, or exercises that could help restore her hand and leg movement back to 100%. Her psychological state is currently good, and we, as a family, are surrounding her with care and attention. However, she constantly tells me she wants to regain her former mobility. I would highly appreciate the core of your expertise
