Is a logistics training program worth it for beginners?
Hi! I recently came across a 2-month training program offered by a logistics company and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it.
For context, I graduated about a year and a half ago and haven’t really worked in logistics yet (I’m a finance grad), so I’m still trying to figure out how to break into the industry.
Here are the details of the program:
• 2 months (200 hours, Mon–Fri, 4 hours/day),
• Topics include freight forwarding (air & sea), customs clearance & documentation, import/export processes, warehousing & 3PL, and logistics sales/business development
• Face-to-face setup with “hands-on training” and workflow exposure
• They also mention internship exposure
My question is:
Is a program like this actually worth it for someone starting from scratch in logistics, or is it better to just self-study and directly apply for entry-level roles instead?
I’m considering it mainly because I feel like it might help me understand the field better and add something relevant to my CV, but I’m not sure if these types of programs are actually valued in the industry.
Would really appreciate honest insights, especially from people working in logistics/supply chain or who have tried similar programs. Thank you!
