I keep reading that to get the X icon you need to play with the Paper Airplane and the tama may throw it outside and the question will be asked

This is my second gen trying, I swear I used the Airplane more than 200 times with Makiko, and I've been trying non stop this gen as well. No question asked, no matter the hour, the weather or anything else.

Is there anything I may be missing here??? Do I just keep throwing it until something happens? because it's getting hella boring
