Hello,

I’m a saxophonist and I’m currently building my pedalboard.

At first, I was just playing with two delays (a Flamma FS03 and a Boss DD-3), running them through DI boxes.

Then I added a Shields Blender. I tested it with a Palmer Daccapo (a friend’s), and the result was quite interesting. However, I quickly ran into noise issues: a lot of hiss, and especially the mechanical sounds of the sax (key noise, etc.), probably because the fuzz amplifies everything.

Later on, I tried this setup live using a DI, but the result wasn’t convincing at all.

Since then, I’ve gone back to a simpler setup with just the two delays through DI boxes. But recently, I got a Palmer Daccapo and a RAT (they were gifts), so now I’d like to rethink everything.

So I’m looking for advice on how to put this setup together, and especially how to make the Shields Blender sound good without the unwanted noise taking over.

I’m considering getting an EQ pedal, and I’ve also thought about using a noise gate, but I’m worried it might cut off the ends of my phrases.
