Dunlop BFG07 Siete Santos Octavio Fuzz, seven sliders of bad decisions

This pedal has been around for years, but it’s new to me and I’m having way too much fun with it.

The octave is always on, which is exactly why I wanted it. What surprised me was how far the 7-band EQ can push that one basic voice. Fat and woolly, dry and rude, broken-speaker sputter, laser-beam buzz, giant low-end sludge. Same octave fuzz, completely different flavors of trouble.

I had ChatGPT cook up a dozen EQ profiles just to see what would happen. I expected random slider shapes. Instead, I lost an evening trying every single one. The second pic is the resulting cheat sheet.

Friendly Reminder, We don’t allow anything containing AI in this subreddit.

It will result in a permanent ban from the subreddit, no questions asked. Shouldn’t really have to do anything as a mod of a pedals sub but here we are.

Anyone interested in how AI technology may impact pedals and new tones?

AI pedals? there are a few, the Quilter Elevate is one. It uses plain English descriptions to generate presets across its effects chain. There’s also the Polyend Endless pedal, which uses AI to generate new effects from prompts. And then, there’s something from Chaos Audio, the Stratus, which includes an AI effects builder. So, you can describe the kind of effect you want and it builds a custom signal chain. Most of what’s out there now though is actually more machine learning modeling, like Neural DSP Quad Cortex or IK Multimedia Tonex, which are excellent, but they’re modeling existing gear more than improvising with you in real time. I think where this gets interesting is, let’s say, pedals that can recognize your playing dynamics, like if you switch from rhythm to lead, and it adapts the gain or delay subtly around that. Or, even an analog pedal with digital brain adjusting its bias or filtering in response to your style. So, right now it’s mostly about helping design sounds. But I think the next wave could be pedals that actually collaborate with you.

Thoughts? Looper? Chorus? New power supply?

I finally put this board together in this order: guitar into tuner, wah, super shifter, carbon copy, digital reverb, super overdrive, big muff pi, dark matter, phaser, dl-4, aby switch, both channels of vox ac-15. That's a Dillion Les Paul copy btw. Power supply is acoustic PBIS08 with only 9 slots so three pedals are daisy chained which I'm not super comfortable about so I'm open to either suggestions or reassurance.

I want to add a looper and maybe lose the dark matter. Might also swap the phaser for a chorus. Does anyone have suggestions?

Distorsion post delay genre doom -post rock/ psichedelic rock

Hi everybody!

After years of electronique music production, i d like to join my Stratocaster into a new rock/ electronique project.

Cause of these long times, i look for advices for pedals and gears, in particular the distortion and delays.

The distortion pedals ( could be two), must have big Energy and fuzzy ( but manageable).

Delay Is also important, must be warm and with cool trippy patterns( like reverse, grainy..) and i dont know if It s possibile to control the dry/wet parameter, could be cool.

My genre Is like a mix of dub/ Stoner / post rock.

Thank you

Chase Bliss

I am not dissing Chase Bliss here. They have carved their own niche. From what I've seen, the pedals are very well made too. All that bloopy, glitchy stuff is fun, but i just don't understand how I can use them in a songwriting / musical way. What am I missing or doing wrong?

FX Loop / DOD Rubberneck

Sorry, poorly titled .

The DOD rubberneck has an effect loop for the trails. What are some effects you’re loving when applied to your delay trails?

MXR Phase 90 seems like a good start.

How to make 2 pedals use the same set of knobs.

For a project of mine I wanted know how to combine two pedals into one enclosure, and then have a switch to change between which effect is active and influenced by the potentiometers when the pedal is on. I know the JHS packrat does something similar but I believe that pedal changes out individual resistors where as I want to change which entire circuit is powered and connected to a universal set of potentiometers. I would ideally like everything to be analog because I have a very limited understanding of microcontrollers. Thanks.

Is this noise normal?

Recently I bought a TC electronics prophet delay pedal and I have noticed that when I use it everything becomes even noisier (it already was before using any pedal). My amp is a dsl5 and the problem comes obviously when I am using the ultra gain channel. Some noise may be normal but I think that this is too much. Thanks

First pedalboard

Wanted to show some tones

I have a tonex one with captures of a Two rock sss (red light) and an Orange rockerverb (green light)

the chain is

fuzz (electromate Hoffman b)->phaser (dedalo módulo lunar)->overdrive/boost (electromate superodex)->hotter overdrive(tc electronic cinders)->tonex one->tremolo (mooer trelicopter)->zoom with chorus, delay, and reverb

I really dig the cinders tone (blues driver clone) and how it stacks with the overdrive and the fuzz. The superodex is a ts808 clone but with assymetrical clipping and 3 modes that give more bass to the gain section, and a lot of harmonics when cranked. Happy with everything so far, though I should tweak my delays and reverbs a little more. Today I rehearsed with a Fender champion 40 with no fx loop, so i decided to use a Prince of tone capture on the tonex as an always on boost and it sounded killer

Boss GT-001 vs Zoom A1 four vs Boss GX-1

I'm looking to buy a multi effects pedal for my clarinet pickup (quite unusual). I'm going to use it for live gigs like weddings.

Effects that I need it most for is EQ, Octaver, reverb/delay.

I know a clarinetist that plays with the GT 001 and his sound is quite good, however the availability for the gt 001 is pretty low and I also believe that technology has advanced since its release.

The other choice (that is vfm/cheap) is the zoom a1 four. I have recently found out about this pedal, it's made specifically for acoustic instruments (like sax, clarinet, acoustic guitar) and has some pre installed presets in it but I don't really care for the pre-available presets.

Google says that the octaver quality (which is one of the most important things that I need) is sometimes laggy, obviously because of the low price. It's a very cheap choice to start out maybe.

The third choice is the BOSS GX-1, a relatively new pedal, very compact and at a very good price. It has a wide list of effects and most importantly it is a boss pedal and has the boss pedal library. Google also says that it contains the octaver oc-2 effect which is very widely used and loved for clarinetists that use octaver.

What should I buy? Which is going to offer the best audio and effect quality for its price?

Mystery Pedal

Got this pedal from a friend in Cincinnati a few years back. Know absolutely nothing about it. Think it’s a fuzz or a ring shifter of some kind. Tone is…ngl, it’s not great. No identifying marks on the inside or out. Anyone have any leads?

Ibanez SM7 Smashbox

I've heard that this pedal is perfect for 90s grunge and alt rock/metal, but also for 90s numetal too. Someone could tell me the settings on this pedal to get a similar Korn's Debut tone?
