Hey. I just got a dog (adopted), he is 5yrs old and he is very healthy. He is a flatcoated retriever so he loves to fetch. We usually go to the forest behind our house everyday and play fetch with large sticks we find there. He chews on them alot and I think he eats some of it too. He has thrown up around 4 times the last month and everytime it has been a little watery and foamy. It has been a light yellow colour, sometimes a little green as well. One time when he threw up there was also a small ball of grass, wood and hair.

Is this concerning? I know it is normal for dogs to throw up now and then, but I just don’t want him to be unnecessarily sick if I can help it. Do you think it is just the excess of wood that is causing this? I am going to stop giving him sticks. From now on we are just going to play fetch with toys instead.

Fyi: I have grown up with dogs and similar breeds, so I have experienced similar things before. But I have not experienced a dog that is so eager to eat everything we give it. He devours entire toys in one day. (He does not get to eat them because we throw them away when I see the toy is starting to split in small pieces.)
