Pet related, what is this? Red bump on my dogs neck

I suspected it was a tic on my dog but my parents say it’s not. Up close it just appears red I see no actual bug either however reason why I suspected tic in the first place is because me and my parents have removed a tic before and it looked pretty
Much like this after we removed the tic. Photo was taken August 10th, my dog lives with my parents I don’t live at home I actually just
Moved out in June.

SUPER itchy dog, no idea what to do to help him

Hi there,

My dog (15-year-old Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix) has been super itchy for years, but it's become much worse in the last six months or so. His belly, armpits, and paws are raw and have lost hair from itching, and even his face (under his eyes and around his muzzle) has started to lose hair. I feel like we've tried just about everything.

The vet had him on a combination of Cytopoint and Apoquel, which helped for a bit, but then stopped working. Now he's on Temaril, and it hasn't helped at all. When he's really bad, we will give him Benadryl, throw a cone on him, and/or a T-shirt which helps for a little bit but it's not a long term solution.

We were giving him a bath every three days but that didn't help so we reduced it to once a week, worried that the medicated shampoo (which we've tried multiple versions of over the years) might be exacerbating it a bit.

We've tried hydrocortisone creams and everything.

The vets are at a loss, and the most help they can give us is *shrug* "allergies are really bad this year." They've tested him for mites; he's on flea and tick medication, everything.

We noticed the itching started a couple of months after we started feeding him The Farmers Dog. We had put it down to seasonal environmental allergies because it improved with treatment for a couple of years, but now we are wondering if it's the food. We just swapped him back to his original food this week, which is the Bench & Field Holistic Natural Formula Dry Dog Food we buy from Trader Joe's, plus a wet food topper we get from Costco (Kirkland Signature Oven Roasted Chicken Dog Food) to make it a little more enticing since he can be a bit picky (he LOVES the Farmer's Dog).

We've spent so much money at the vet trying to figure this out, and nothing is helping him. I feel terrible seeing him so itchy. Our other dog is completely fine.

Any help or ideas on how to help him would be amazing.

X-rays

My dog has a bloated stomach and the vet saw on the xrays that there’s something serving as an obstruction & pushing his organs to the side. You can see that white thing pushing his intestines aside, anybody know what it might be? I noticed it because his stomach is visibly big & swollen on the outside but it doesn’t hurt to the touch & he’s in no type of pain

Frenchie growth concern

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some thoughts or experiences with something going on with my dog’s paw.
My frenchie has this growth/mass between his nails/toes that has been there for a a couple months and continues to grow larger. We already took him to the vet twice, and the vet examined it but did not recommend medication, treatment, or surgery at this time. We were told to basically leave it alone and monitor it. And describes it as him having an additional nail. X-ray was done and was confirmed it is not a tumor.
Today I noticed that it looks like there may be some blood around the growth, which has me a little more concerned. It also looks crusty/irritated in the area. And it continues to get bigger and bigger.
Has anyone seen anything similar with their dog? Does this look like an interdigital cyst, infection, wart/growth, or something else?
I’m not looking for a diagnosis—just hoping to hear from people who have dealt with something similar and whether it eventually resolved, changed, or required treatment.
I’ve attached photos. Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!

My Chocolate Labrador Lashley was Abandoned without my knowledge. I'm Still Looking for Him.

This post is a part of my final attempt to find my chocolate labrador lashley who was abandoned 5 years ago by my father. I will first post a short introduction before explaining lashley's story in detail.

About Lashley:

Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Nicknames: Boochie, Dachaley, Laboli

Distinctive white patch on his chest also known as bolo marks

Age when he was abandoned - 3 1/2 years old

Current age - 8 to 9 years old

Last known area: Domlur, Bengaluru (near Jogupalya, Indiranagar & Ulsoor)

If anyone living in Bangalore recognizes him, knows someone who might have adopted him, or have any information at all—even if it seems insignificant—please leave a comment or contact me through WhatsApp/call +91 8660826795

Detailed explanation of what actually happened & why he was abandoned

Back in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family was going through a very difficult time financially and personally. Also during this time my father was suffering from severe chronic depression and other mental issues. After some time we had just moved to a new house, so my dad left Lashley to stay at my grandmother's house and claimed he would bring him to our new house. My father told me he would bring him to our new home once everything settled down. But few months passed by and this did not happen. During that time I used to visit him during the weekends. Some of the pics & videos i have posted here are during that time

So one day without my knowledge, according to my grandmother's account he claimed to take lashley for a walk and when he had returned lashley wasn't there with him. When he was asked about it he told her he had sold it or given it to someone but did not mention the specifics like to whom. When he came home he did not tell us about this. A few days later, my father took his own life at my grandmother's house. It was only then that we found out. During that time, our family was consumed by the shock, grief , funeral, legal matters, and everything that followed after my father's death so our thoughts were consumed by this and finding lashley wasnt at the forefront of our minds I also did not want to disturb my mother and other family members by bringing this up.

After some time we decided to search for lashley but had no idea where he went or with whom he was. We visited some well known breeders and rescue organisations but couldn't find him. Also found out that my father had also given away lashley's vaccination certificates & other things like prescriptions from the vets. So i had lost hope and finally decided that it was almost impossible to ever see him again. I loved him so much and wanted to be with him till his final years this was what made it so bad. I couldn't even see him to wish him a final goodbye before he left me. He was an extremely expressive and affectionate lab who always loved to be around me. I can't imagine how panicked and lost he must have felt after he was given away. He loved me like no other dog ever did. So I just suppressed those memories and went on with my life. But it just didn't work. For the past few months I have been feeling intense regret that I didn't do enough to find him, that I had in a way betrayed him. I kept dreaming about him regularly - both positive and disturbing dreams. So i finally decided I need to make a final and serious attempt to find him before he leaves this world. I want to be with him through his final years.

My search efforts will be both offline and online - I will visit every rescue organisation, veterinary clinics , breeders, pet boarding schools and kennels in my city. I will also be creating pages on every social media platform where I will be documenting and updating my search efforts. Even if the search fails i atleast get to preserve lashley's memories and get to tell his story to many. Hope this post wasn't too long. Thank you for reading

My dog had a small piece of chicken tender. Should I be worried?

He had a small piece of a chicken tender and I was worried it might cause problems tonight. He's a corgi terrier mix and is about seven years old. Is this something I need to be awake and keep an eye on or is he going to be fine?

This isn't urgent, it's already been a few minutes and there's nothing visible. Am I worrying over nothing?

Skin Condition Advice

My 6 year old pug has been having this skin condition for months. After a trip to the vet, he was prescribed oral and topical antifungals. Being on this treatment for a few months, it does not seem to get any better. No change in diet or environment. Does anyone know what it is or has had a similar issue? Any advice?

Dog not eating and throwing up since yesterday morning, should I be worried?

My dog not eating and throwing up since yesterday morning and im starting to panic a little. shes a 5 year old yorkshire terrier, normally eats her food in like 30 seconds so this is really not normal for her. i'm in the US florida if you will recommend some vets.

It started yesterday, she threw up her breakfast about 20 minutes after eating. figured maybe she ate too fast like usual so i didnt think much of it but then she refused dinner completely (just to mentioned there was no changed of food).

Shes still drinking water but even that comes back up sometimes. shes also just laying around which is weird because shes normally following me everywhere.

Here's what i've tried so far:

What I tried Result
smaller portions of her regular food wouldnt touch it
plain boiled chicken and rice ate a tiny bit then threw it up 30 min later
withheld food for 12 hours to let stomach settle still threw up
ice cubes instead of water bowl kept those down at least
pepto bismol (vet approved dose from last time) threw that up too

has anyones dog gone through this and it resolved on its own? or should i just go to the vet now and stop googling?

Red eye (help please!)

Hi, my dog (female, 4 years old, chihuahua mix, weights about 3/4kg) has this really red eye since two days ago (it’s much more red than in the pic), no changes in food, environment and she doesn’t take any meds. I can see it’s hurting or at least bothering her because she has it half closed all the time, and when there’s bright light she closes it completely. I’m really worried because she had the exact same thing in the same eye a couple years ago. I clean it 3 times a day with saline solution and a gauze pad, and it’s getting worst day by day. Anyone had a dog with this? What was the diagnosis? ( I’m going to the vet with her tomorrow, i just can’t stop thinking about it 😞 )

Boys eyes

Hey all, I took in this little guy, previous owner said he took him to the vet and the vet said it was cherry eye, however it’s something that I’m concerned about if anyone has any insight. TIA

I will be taking him on Monday to a different vet as well.

Swaying whilst walking

I have a 6 month old rescue malinois and have noticed she has started swaying her hips whilst walking and her gait looks off. She also walks slightly diagonally.

Will book a visit with the vets but wanted to see if this normal for a growing mali as she hasn’t grown into her legs yet or if there is a problem. Worried it is hip dysplasia.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

subungual squamous cell carcinoma in my dog

Our dog recently had a toe amputation and the histopathology came back as subungual squamous cell carcinoma. The removal was clean and there was lots of unaffected tissue and bone. Our surgeon is recommending we do a lymph node removal to ensure it hasn’t spread there. The rescue told us she was only 3 but we are thinking she is older now.

Does anyone have experience with this? They can test the lymph node but if there are only a few cells it could be inconclusive, and could spread before we really know.

We don’t want to put our pup through another surgery (she’s had a tough life already)! But also want as many years with her as we can get.

Blood in dog diarrhea has anyone experienced this? really worried

Has anyone experienced blood in dog diarrhea? I have a 10 month old chinese crested and it started like 4 days ago.

She was completely fine before, no problems with digestion. she was and still is eating well, playing, going outside happily everyday and just in general seems fine. however, she has only diarrhea and usually it also has blood in it.

Worth mentioning that we changed her food last week. she was eating hills food before and now we swapped it to royal canin. could this be the problem? should we swap the food back?

Waiting for advices from other people that experienced blood in dog diarrhea. should we rush to the vet or it could be fixed with food?

Perianal mass FNA showed infection?

Female lab mix, spayed, 10 yo

Has had small lump right below anus for about two months. History of low WBC and slightly elevated ALP.

Diagnosis: Neutrophilic and macrophagic inflammation

Comments: The cytologic findings are consistent with inflammation, the cause of which is not readily apparent. Both infectious (e.g., bacterial, fungal, etc.) and noninfectious (e.g., underlying neoplasia, foreign body, trauma, etc.) causes are considered.

My vet called me and basically said this is good news, it’s not cancer. That being said they still recommended surgical removal. What is the urgency of that? And aren’t FNA not really the gold standard in ruling out cancer? The report still says it could be underlying neoplasia, right? But does “infection” also mean it could just be a cyst?

Goodbye love

My good girl, only friend, and service dog (retired for a couple years now)....well....she is at that time.

She is about 16.

I have a life limiting (both limitation but also lifespan)medical disability. I do not wish her to suffer as I do.

She's saved my life, helped raise my son (he's 11 now), and been the best dog, confidant, family member.

I hate being disabled. I hate that, for me....even the $175 cost for just euthanasia (no ashes. No keepsake) is gonna max out the credit card I have because I don't have money left this month.

I fing had money saved for this. Air quality tanking and illness meant running AC ate that up.

It makes me feel even worse that THIS is the part that is stopping me for just going to our regular vet and making an appointment.

I already feel like a terrible person.

Anyhow. I want to remember her. I want someone to know, maybe care....that she existed. That she was such a very very good girl.

That, I don't mind walking slower, holding her back end so she could do the stairs, kinda yell talking cause she's going deaf. She would do that for me. But her body is old. Things fail like that. And ....she deserves dignity and freedom from suffering.

Cocoa is a family member. A friend. Very very very loved, and will be missed. I will put her gotcha day, middle and now pics.

Godspeed my loyal friend. Grandpa is waiting for you when you close your eyes the final time to escort you to heaven.

My beagle occasionally limps

Hey everyone. Lately I noticed my beagle (5 years old) limps for a few seconds. Always the same leg (right back). I checked the paw, I checked for tenderness along the leg - no problem.

No kicking of the leg, no crying. He runs and walk and keeps on chasing things even when the limp starts. The limp starts and stops without an apearent trigger.

I'm adding a video of the limp.

I went to one vet, but he wasn't much help, before I go back or switch to another vet I wanted to check if someone has some experience with such a thing.

Thank you.

Took our dog to the emergency vet two days ago after eating chocolate, now he has diarrhea. Should I take him to the vet again?

So two days ago (monday afternoon) my dog got into some chocolate chip pancakes and we took him to the emergency vet asap. They induced vomiting and he managed to throw up basically all the pancakes he ate. After that, they monitored him for two hours and he was fine, we went home shortly after. Yesterday he had no symptoms and even ate his regular kibble. This morning he is now having diarrhea. Could this be related to what happened two days ago? Should I take him back to the vet again or just monitor him?

More info: He is 40 pounds and the pancakes he consumed contained about one ounce of bakers unsweet chocolate chips
