World Cup Watch Party at the Library
Hello!
The lovely people at the Melrose branch library on Foothill and 48th Ave are streaming evening games for the World Cup. They have, however, not been so good about advertising.
I went last night for the Mexico/Ecuador game and it was just the librarian, my family, and (when he could sneak a few minutes) the security guard watching. We brought pour own sandwiches and it was chill - especially with an often impatient child who was able to read books and do other great library activities while the adults did adult things - i.e. watching 22 sweaty men chase a small spherical object in the rain for an hour.
I would love it if more people were able to come (I’m booked elsewhere during tonight’s US game), but for the rest of you in and around the area it’s great. Pack an easy dinner, roll in from Melrose, Laurel, Dimond, Redwood Heights, Maxwell Park, Frick, Semininary, Havenscourt, Millsmont, or wherever you may be, and get to experience again why the public library system is one of the numerous jewels of Oakland.
