I just found a pretty solid novel. It’s about some seriously chaotic middle school life. I don’t know, maybe it’s my first time finding a student-brawl-style novel like Lookism, Weak Hero, or Study Group set outside of South Korea.
What I love most about this novel is how the author handles psychological elements and social issues so subtly. The MC is Machiavellian like Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, but instead of being pure dark, he’s more of a grey area.
So far, his most dangerous enemy is the mastermind. It’s like a dark reflection whenever the MC and the MV face off. The only thing that sets them apart is their moral compass.
He has a harem, but not really. All the girls following him around are there because of trauma, not just because of his skills or looks. It’s like a doctor-patient dynamic; they need each other to survive in their respective worlds.
From what I’ve gathered, this is only book one, and there are books two and three coming up.
I really hope the author doesn't go on hiatus because the plot is seriously hooking. It gets darker and darker as it goes.
It’s published most frequently and updated on Wattpad. I found it on SH and RR too, but it seems like the author stopped updating there.
But sadly, the author rarely updates. Is he starting to get burned out? Even though on the Wattpad tag rankings, I see he's actually got a pretty good track record!
