I thought the album wasn't going to be released until later this month so I was very surprised when my local store contacted me yesterday to say my pre order was ready!

The album sounds amazing, even better than streaming I would say, and the bonus tracks on side D are wonderful too.

The band sound like they are really having fun on Y Control and Hysteric. Let Me Know is a fun song, I never heard of it before. Despair is also cool and I think I prefer it to the original version on Mosquito, here it just has an extra umph. Isis gets a the full length treatment rather than it being just a snippet like on the version already released on streaming.

I can see this becoming my go to YYYs album for a while!

I have not been collecting that many new records this year but I took a semi unexpected trip to Japan and my birthday as an excuse to splurge a bit and pick up some albums I've had on my list for a while.

Very pleased with the sound quality of all of them except the Yoko Ono album. It's a beautiful album, but this pressing is diabolical, so many pops and sibilance. I will try giving it a few more cleans but I don't have high hopes.

Favorite pick up was the Santana album. I found it used for about 15 USD and sounds amazing, even for a 50min+ album on a single disc.

What did everyone else add to their collections last month?

Hi all.

So I'm currently at my semi end game of my hi-fi set up. I started getting into audio about three years ago when I bought a humble ATLP60XBT (pictured).

Originally I played it through Bluetooth on a small portable speaker but then my father-in-law gave me his old passive speakers and that got me deeper into the rabbit hole. I first bought a small Chinese amp (FX audio) because I had no idea what I was doing. It was enough for a while but once I discovered this subreddit I went even deeper.

Little by little I started doing little upgrades when my budget allowed and I currently have a system that I'm super happy with it. Now when I listen with that old Bluetooth speaker I feel so much is missing (although I still take it traveling with me and in the shower).

I'm curious what made everyone else get into audio. Did you start all in or did you build your system bit by bit like me? Would love to hear everyone's stories.

Just in case you were wondering about the set-up:

Turntable: ATLP60XBT with ATN3600LE needle

Phono: Fosi Box X5

Amp: Fosi ZA3

Streamer: Wiim Pro

DAC: SMSL SU1

Speakers: Wharfedale Diamond 12.1

And yes, I know it is not ideal to have the speakers on the same surface as the turntable but I just moved into this house and they haven't given me any problems so far but I will get some isolation pads soon.
