Block Students?

There is this one account that books with last-minute scheduling, and two people share the account. Both users don't make any conversation at all. One time, I asked questions for 6 minutes before I finally got a reply. Is there any way to block students from booking with you again? It's really draining to work with students who don't say a single word or only give 1 word responses throughout the entire class. I left feedback multiple times and even told them during the lesson to expand on their answers, to no avail. They also don't select their Ringle articles, so it picks articles too advanced for them, and they can't talk about them. What should I do?

Unfair strike

A few days ago, I had a student drop out of a 40 min lesson but, as always, I joined the lesson on time and waited for Ringle to assign me a new student. They didn’t so I left after 25 minutes. At the end of the lesson I was given a strike for a no show??? I was literally there the whole time and have never no-showed a lesson. I submitted an appeal with evidence I was there so it should get overturned. However since that incident I have had no bookings, which I suspect is because I lost a star and gained a strike. Additionally this happened before the weekend and it takes several business days for appeals to be considered. There are also delays because of a Korean holiday, I believe. I’m very annoyed by this because I am losing out on work for potentially a week because of an error on their side. Obviously this would never happen but I feel entitled to compensation 😭 has this ever happened to anyone else?

how is it? (mock trial phase)

Hello!

I recently passsed the first phase and am ready to schedule an interview. Before I put a lot of effort into preparing for a good interview, is the job worth it for current college students?

My minimum wage is 19.18 where I’m from so I’ve never worked for that low- do you think they’d be open for negotiations?

ringle alternatives

Hey everyone,

I'm a Ringle Teens tutor with over 350 lessons under my belt. I somehow just found out that parents and students are paying $25-30 per 20 minute lessons, of which I am only earning $9.5 for. Not even 50%. I, like many others in this subreddit, are frustrated with the company and system, like making it impossible to breach a level for a pay increase, harsh ratings that don't reflect the pay or effort, etc. I was wondering if there were any alternative platforms that you all have found that have better conditions and a flexible scheduling options. Thanks in advance!

Coordinated email requesting higher tutor pay

There has been some interest in the comments of a recent post about the possibility of a number of us sending the same email to Ringle requesting higher pay.

I thought it might be worth making a separate post to see how much interest there actually is in doing this. If a significant number of tutors sent the same message, or a jointly agreed message, it could carry more weight than individual requests.

If you'd be interested in taking part, please vote in the poll. It would also be great to hear people's thoughts on how we could organise this, particularly if anyone would be willing to take the lead on drafting something for the group to review.

Students not rating?

Hi, I'm making this post because I'm curious if anyone else has been in this situation. I achieved the "gold star tutor" status for the past couple of weeks because I have fortunately been receiving good ratings. I've never gotten a strike and I work really hard to be a good tutor for my students, taking their feedback, making sure they got everything out of the session that they wanted, etc. I'm feeling a bit down because recently a lot of my students have just not been leaving me a rating at all. So many, in fact, that the automatic 4.5s have now dropped my rating below the 4.8 needed for gold star status.

I understand this probably sounds silly and petulant, but the gold-star status was helping me rack up promotion points sooooo much faster, and I feel it's a bit unfair to lose not even for bad ratings, but because students AREN'T leaving a rating at all.

Is it tacky to ask my students to rate me? I've never done this and I feel a bit weird about it for some reason

Getting 3’s for the first time…

I’ve been with Ringle for about 2 months maybe, and I’ve gotten my first two 3’s one day apart from each other…

For the first 3, I requested a rating waiver, because the student accused me of factually inaccurate things (ie: she accused me of only correcting simple grammar when one look at the ringle doc would disprove that)…and she was fully using a translating app during our lesson 😭😭😭.

She went on to say I was bad at communicating and leading the lesson even though I had to ask so many follow up questions due to her like 3-5 word responses (which she used GPT or google translate for btw).

I’m really nervous about Ringle accepting my rating waiver, and that 3 is literally the first rating you see when clicking on my profile. :(

I knew it wasn’t my fault the first time, regardless what Ringle thinks, but I got another 3 today and I’m really confused, since my tutoring style hasn’t changed, and I’ve taught like 200 students with no lower ratings than a 4. Was it simply a matter of student preference? I’m sort of freaking out…

Balance vs Correction Distinction

Hi! I took a month off for travel and came back to this new 4 mode format. I just peeked over it, but I'm a bit confused on the difference between Balance and Correction mode. Other than like technically more corrections for Correction mode, has anyone found there to be a difference in practice when students select between the two? Thanks!
