a little progress on the 1935 Royal KH
My cat of course sat right behind the typewriter the whole time to ensure everything was up to code.
Next task is to figure out why the space bar isn't working. More paperclips needed? We'll see.

Cruddy camera video, sorry. These guys are popping up in my wild Armadillidium isopod + temperate white springtail tank, range in size from almost can't see 'em to this guy here, 4mm-ish? Are they another type of springtail or a Problem? Not seeing them in my dwarf purple isopod + temperate white setup but I used a lot of the same materials in both so if these things hitched a ride in on something it may just be a matter of time before I see them with the dwarf purples (and they're definitely bigger and pushier than the dwarf purples, which wouldn't be a good mix).
Newbie here, and sorry for all the pics/videos.
All I said was that I was interested in getting a typewriter. Long story short, I just acquired this Royal KH for the low low price of free and uuuuh guess I've got a project for the summer.
I know next to nothing about typewriters, especially ones this old so I'm not sure if this is a newbie-doable project or if I should let someone more experienced handle it.
The toggle that switches ribbon colors doesn't seem to work but I can't tell for sure.

W and Z are sticky, and Z seems to move W with it.
O/6 not completely coming back into place when the key's released but otherwise moves fine.

P and space bar aren't working at all.
Had to wipe off like an inch of dust to even find the serial number. That's KH-1741613.
There's still a few doodads I need to figure out what they even do and if they're actually working :p but overall this seems to have been pretty decently maintained, kept in one family until now. I do like good solid old machines and I felt like I couldn't say no to a free antique. I just need a little help figuring out if the repairs are doable for me or not. Thoughts? Any good Royal refurbishing guides out there?
