Transitioning from psych to GP

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has gone through the process of transferring their care from their psych to their GP now that they can prescribe medication?

My medication which has been out of stock for ages has just become available again and I asked my GP if he can prescribe it, he said he can but needs a transfer letter from my psych.

I emailed psychs office to ask for the letter but because I haven’t seen them since late last year the psych wants me to make a review appointment to assess whether transferring care is ‘clinically appropriate’ which I’m not sure I understand? I know which medication works for me and was never irresponsible with it.

One of my main reasons I want to switch to my GP for care is the cost of the psych, at times I was paying $450 per appointment with her and was seeing her monthly to 6 weekly. They were very quick appointments usually just a ‘how’s things going? How is your day? How is your medication working? Do we need to make any changes’, and I just can’t justify paying that monthly anymore for 20 minutes catch ups just to be given access to my medication.

I’m now worried that for whatever reason the psych won’t transfer me or will still want to be involved and I won’t be able to afford to get back on my medication. Has anyone navigated this? Any insight would be so helpful.

Dumbfounded by build prices

Was anybody else taken by surprise recently in terms of build prices? I’m not sure if we’re being naive here but we recently bought land in Southern regional TAS and were so excited to start the build process. Over the last few years we had done our research on advertised build prices, saved what we assumed was a healthy deposit for our build ($100k) and have been pre approved for a $650-700k construction loan. We then started contacting builders (including modular) and all of them seemed to roll their eyes that we thought we could build with this budget. For context, we ideally want a basic 3 bed 2 bath home that is approx 150m2 and our land does have a slight slope. Due to the slope we have always been comfortable with/ preferred the idea of a stilt home to cut costs of a large amount of cut/fill earthworks and concrete slab. Are we crazy for being disappointed that this still isn’t enough? We seriously can’t believe how much building is going to cost and builders keep asking if we’d be able willing to stretch our budget more and more, how are people affording to build?
