Moving to Columbia for a postdoc — what's the rental market like?
Hey r/columbiamo! I'm relocating to Columbia for a postdoc at MU and trying to get a realistic picture of the housing situation before I arrive.
I'm looking for a 1-2 bedroom apartment reasonably close to campus. Budget is a consideration (postdoc life, you know how it is), so I'm hoping to find something decent without breaking the bank.
A few things I'd love input on:
- What's a realistic price range for a 1BR or 2BR near campus right now?
- Are there neighborhoods you'd recommend for someone in my situation? I don't want to be super isolated, but I also don't want to be in the middle of a heavily undergrad party scene.
- Any apartment complexes or landlords worth knowing about — good experiences or ones to avoid?
