Old Foreign songs with a Tarantino vibe?

Hey, thought it could be nice to share some music here. A lot of what makes a great Tarantino flick is the use of cool songs from the 60/70's (sometimes more recent ones). There's always THAT vibe. It could be cool to post songs that have THAT vibe from different parts of the world. By foreign, here I mean non UK/US.

It could be Italian, French, Japanese, Brazilian, Spanish, Korean,... whatever.

Let's make our fictional Tarantino foreign movie soundtrack!

Here are a few suggestions to start this thread:

- Yosui Inoue - Kokoro Moyou (心もよう) (Japan, 1973)

- Le temps de l'amour · Francoise Hardy (France, 1972)

- Ezers · Haralds Sīmanis (Latvia, 1980)

- Strange Dream · WITCH (Zambia,1975)

- Czerwone Gitary - Ciągle pada (Poland, 1974)

- Le Récit Des Tortures Et Des Vampires · François de Roubaix (From Daughters of Darkness) (1971)

- Fai Presto, Fai Presto • Gianni Ferrio (Italia, 1975)

- Sayonara No Kane · Hako Yamasaki (Japan, 1975)

- Mazhar ve Fuat - Adımız Miskindir Bizim (Turkey, 1973)

- Dance of Maria · Elias Rahbani (Lebanon, 1972)

- Özdemir Erdoğan - Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım (Turkey, 1978)

- Krzysztof Komeda - Sarah in Bath (The Fearless Vampire Killers)

- Vladimir Cosma - La mélopée de Falbala (France, 1985)

- Claudio Gizzi - Theme from "Blood For Dracula" (italia, 1975)

- Theme from Valerie and Her Week of Wonder - Luboš Fišer ( Czechoslovakia, 1970)

Ben Burt appreciation post

I just love all those small details layered together. I wonder what he used to do this. The last "whistle" sound kinda like an old flash from a camera. And another one sounds like some kind of a sliding drawer or door.

Help identify a song?

Hi, I was in Latvia last month. I was listening to the radio during my trip, mostly Radio Naba.

I heard this song but was unaible to identify it through Shazam or other app, even Youtube didn't detect any copyright when I uploaded it.

I'd love to be able to identify this banger. I'd say it's probably from the 80's (or early 90's). Here's the first part of the song I recorded with my phone before screenrecording my phone. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9sOx1-Ys6hE

I uploaded this into gemini, and it was able to give me the lyrics

" Nē, gribu bez tevis

Bez tevis netikšu

Nē, gribu, nē, gribu

Nē, gribu!"

I don't speak latvian so I'm not sure that's correct.

It was exactly recorded on the 23th of June at 17:45

Thanks! Hopefully that's not too obscure.

Best way to find which tin whistle (key) was used in a song? Also which tin whistle do you think was used here (at 1:38) ?

Hi. Im just starting the tin whistle. I have a D tin whistle and I'm trying to learn a few songs I like. I'm trying this one https://youtu.be/jfxRiNjayr0 , Chuaig Me Na Rosam by Clannad.

The key is A Dorian. I was wondering if the player originally played it with a D whistle, or maybe a higher G (I'm not even sure that's a thing). Playing it with a G would be easier since all the notes are already there. On a D whistle you'd need to play the normal C (and not the C#) which is possible but to me feels always awkward to play (but I'm just beginning). Or maybe that's another one.

Is there a good way to guess which whistle Was originally used in a song?

Thanks.

Local music/bands/jam or club/bar to recommend next weekend?

Hello. I'll be visiting Vilnius next weekend. What I love when visiting a foreign city is finding local clubs or small concert venues/bar that play some local music, small bands or even jams. Is there some places you would recommend? Or maybe websites to check? Especially on Friday, since I'll be to another concert on Saturday the 20th.

Thank you

How to make the most of Jāņi as a foreigner (solo traveler)?

Hello, I'll be there for a full week in June and I'll be there during Jāni.

I would like to enjoy an authentic experience while being respectful and unobtrusive. What are the best conditions to fully appreciate this festival? Is it better to go to the countryside or stay in Riga (or maybe a smaller town) ?

I've heard there was some traditional celebration in Dzegužkalns park and that might be my best option? But as a tourist will it be okay?

Also are the transport open during the night from the festival or they have the usual schedule?

Are there any better clothes to wear or customs to observe (I’ve read that saying “Līgo Līgo” is appreciated)? (Also I'm not sure how cold/hot it could get during the night in June in Latvia)

I will be traveling solo. I’m not the type to travel for clubbing, excessive drinking, or that kind of tourist behaviors. I usually try to focus on authentic experiences, and I would really love to find a way to discover your culture and traditions in the best possible way.

I know this is the most important festival in your culture (which I think is really cool, we should all celebrate the summer solstice as much as you do, instead of just celebrating the winter solstice at Christmas). Although I don’t know all the aspects of the celebration yet, I would love to fully soak in the atmosphere.

Also are there any songs you would recommend I listen to in order to get familiar with the festival, or things I could read or watch (books, films, fiction, documentaries)? I am already familiar with the songs Ozoliņi (the version by Auļi) and Danco Jani (the version by Tautumeitas), but I am not sure if these are truly traditional songs or if they are not necessarily fully representative.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
