My lowest point, years ago
Met a girl at my old job. We hit it off when she recognized my shitty anime music blasting in the cooler. Worked up the gumption to ask for her number and actually got it. She started coming over to hang out. Eventually she was at my place every night learning to play MTG. She became a regular part of the friend group. After like 6 months finally told her I had feelings for her. She said she kinda did too but she was still recovering from a 6 year long relationship and didn't want to get into a new one just then. She said she'd let me know when she was ready. 2 weeks later I came home from work early and caught my roommate eating her out on the couch. Apparently they'd been together for months, all the while my roommate (and best friend) had been encouraging my feelings for her and telling me to "be patient with her". I tried to kms after that. Whole friend group fell apart and I moved away. Got into therapy, quit drinking and turned my life around since then, still single tho. If any consolation, she ended up cheating on him just a few months later.
