Majula Monument, interesting detail
I've spent a few hundred hours playing both versions of Dark Souls 2 over the years, and yet I never noticed the dark cloud floating above the monument in Majula. It appears only when you are relatively close to the monument, so that probably explains why.
I don't remember ever hearing about it either, though I am sure it's probably old news.
Did we ever get some sort of theory going? To me, the obvious idea is that it's somehow the collective humanity from all the deaths the monument has recorded.
