I am an absolute buffoon

I have tried Dark Souls 2 twice over the past ~5 years, and it never really stuck. The first time I tried was when I was about 15, Soulsborne newbie, just finished Elden Ring for the first time. With Elden Ring, I completely fell in love with the process of “learning” a game to get good at it. I had obviously heard of Dark Souls before, so after Elden Ring, I went to the nearest GameStop and picked up the only Dark Souls game they had in stock; Dark Souls 2.

I tried it for about a week, absolutely hated it, thought it was way too difficult, never touched it again.

That was until now. I’m coming back to the game after having played, and loved, both Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, but Dark Souls 2 was pretty much just how I remembered. I’m obviously better at Soulsborne games now, but I still felt the game was unnecessarily inaccessible.

However, I realized last night, and I have never felt stupider, but I completely missed the Forest of Fallen Giants. I really don’t know how. Both times I tried the game, I just went straight to Heide’s Tower of Flame and scraped by just enough to barely get to No-Man’s Wharf. By then, I was just completely over it. But apparently, I just never turned the fuck around at the Majula bonfire, but I did last night and was like “Huh… what’s over there…”

Now I’m having fun again. Just wanted to share.

Doing my best to get a Red Pyramid Thing cosplay going for the Halloween season. Went with the spear variant because none of the swords that look like the Great Knife are any good at all really. Offdag necessary simply for build functionality.

Felkin the outcast obviously was supposed to be a pyromancer, right? Before From decided to rearrange the characters backstory?

I would think this probably obvious, but google gave me almost no threads where this was discussed except one, and not conclusively.

His armor is fire resistant and looks like it’s been burned, like the fire hunters set in Bloodborne.

He uses pyromancy and the chaos weapons when you fight him, which have innate fire damage.

He just clearly was meant to be the pyro of the four wizards (Licia, straid, Navlaan and Felkin).

Like why would there be two dark sorcerers and no pyromancer in the group with interchangeable armors that each have an elemental specialty?

Everything points to Felkin being changed to being a hexer despite his original purpose being pyro in development.
