Does anyone else have issues with the Remake pacing?

I’ve recently completed two playthroughs of the OG FFVII (as a newcomer to the series), and it has cemented itself as my second favorite game of all time. Now, I’m moving onto the remake.

I’ve been playing pretty casually for about a week or so now, and I’m currently on chapter 9. I just finished the tournament before meeting Don Corneo, and now I have to do some more merc work.

I’ve generally enjoyed the game so far, but I really just dread doing these side missions. Most of them don’t really have anything to do with the main story from what I can tell, so it just feels like I’m forcing myself to watch mid filler episodes of an anime. I don’t completely hate the combat, but I don’t enjoy it enough for it to justify these side missions.

I really want to enjoy this game so that I can see all of the changes it makes to the original story as well as all of the things that have been expanded, but I can’t help but feel like there’s almost a bit too much extra content here. It just knocks all of the wind out of my sails.

Does anyone else have issues with the pacing? Am I just being a baby?

Minifuse 2 hissing noise

So I don’t really know a lot when it comes to recording, all I know is that I use garageband on my macbook and that the interface I use is the Minifuse 2.

I’m not sure how phantom power works or what it really is, but I know that I can only record audio from my microphone when phantom power is on. However, I’ve been having a bit of a problem lately. Whenever I turn on the phantom power, I get this hissing noise that overpowers just about any audio that I record.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this issue, and I would greatly appreciate any input on what could be causing this and/or how I could go about fixing it.

getting into gaming, need recs

So, I’m a relatively new “gamer.” When I was a kid (2013-2021ish (I was born in 2007)) I had only really ever played online multiplayer games like Rocket League, Fortnite, CoD, etc.. I was never really any good at these types of games, they were only fun because I had friends to play with. However, as my friends and I got older, they kinda stopped having time to play games all day, which left me suuuuper bored most of the time. I was kinda getting tired of video games.

Then came this little game called Elden Ring.

To this day, Elden Ring remains my favorite game of all time. But after I was done with Elden Ring for the most part, I tried Resident Evil Village. This was great as well. Then I played Resident Evil 2 Remake. Had a blast. But those were the last games I really played for quite a long time. I thought I had kind of just “grown out of it.”

I started college last year, and was super bored between semesters, so I decided to try Elden Ring again, and, just like it had the first time, Elden Ring completely took over my life. After a few months, I was pretty much done with Elden Ring again, so I was left thinking “now what?” But then, quite ironically, Resident Evil Requiem came out. I dipped my toes back into Resident Evil and fell in love once again. This inspired me to binge all of the mainline RE games, including the PS1 era games.

I finished this binge about a week ago, so I decided to try Final Fantasy VII (PS1) next. I’ve finished my first playthrough, currently on my second to do all of the side quests and whatnot.

I really haven’t played many other games outside of what I’ve mentioned, but between the OG Resident Evil trilogy and Final Fantasy VII, I find so much charm and personality in these games, so I would love to dive deeper into this era.

So, if you were able to read my story, then I would love to hear any games you would recommend from this era (or even more modern games), I’m considering buying a PS1 and physical copies.

List of games I’ve played:

Resident Evil 0-9 (remakes and originals)
Devil May Cry 1-5
Final Fantasy VII (original)
Final Fantasy VII Remake (currently playing)
Pragmata (close to finishing)
Spider-man Playstation Trilogy
Dark Souls 3 (yet to finish)
Elden Ring
Cyberpunk 2077 (don’t really remember anything, plan to replay)

Question about playing original before remake

So, I’ve never played any other Final Fantasy games, but I got both versions of VII last night. I was initially planning to start with the remake, but I was heavily advised not to (due to the fact that the remake assumes you have played the original).

So, I switched gears, and I’m about 2 hours into the OG game as of now. From what I understand, the remake only covers the Midgar section of the OG. Soooooo, to save myself some time, I was wondering, would I be okay playing only that section of the OG before playing the remake? Or do I need to know the story past that point?

I’m definitely going to finish both games, I’m just trying to figure out how I should go about it.

So, context, I’m 18. When I was a kid, I was practically raised on frozen/junk food. About 2-3 months ago, I realized how gross and unhealthy I feel because of this and I don’t really want to look like the rest of my family, so I started going shopping for myself. However, I haven’t really found any good source of protein (I was never really taught how to cook), but I like chicken, so I want to start with that.

So I just wanna ask, could anyone give me any relatively simple chicken recipes?

I started a new game after finishing requiem a couple weeks ago, and I was being impatient at the typewriter and accidentally saved over my completed save file.

I was a little frustrated, but I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal. That was until just now, I just saw IGN say that you’ll need a completed save file to play the upcoming mini-games.

I doubt there is, but I was just wondering if anybody knew of any way that I could somehow get my old save file back.

im playing re3 (og) for the first time, and it is genuinely kicking my ass. this game is clearly harder than any resident evil game i have played. and don’t get me wrong, im all for a challenge, my favorite game is elden ring, but this is just something else. i cant tell what, but i feel like im just doing something wrong. i’ve heard people say that this is their favorite re game, but its not mine.

the first 3-ish hours were actually great. i loved the zombies and puzzles, but around that 4 hour mark, they just started throwing soooo many zombies at me all the time. by the time i was getting the fuse and the oil for the train, i just had literally no ammo or health items left. i was just dying, and dying, and dying.

i finally got to the clocktower, and it gave me a while to kind of catch my breath and i started having fun again. but now, im fighting nemesis. i genuinely do not know what to do. between the controls feeling terrible on the ps5 controller, fact that nemesis is just fast as fuck, and that i dont have any healing items, i feel so stuck.

im thinking about just restarting, because this cannot be the definitive re3 experience. did anybody else feel this way with this game?
