I’m saying this because a lot of people talk about it, but no one really goes into it in the way i think they should. There’s so many things about it that blows my mind. Like so much.
Like i have to ask first, why the fuck was that photo saved onto her phone? She had that photo fully ready to respond with. And where the fuck did she even get it??? Where did she find edited CSAM of a 17 year old???? And why??? the fuck??? did she save it to her phone??? Like can we really sit back for a second and think about what that implies???
But also, the fan response is jarring to me as well. I’ve seen so many fans try to justify it, by saying “well Jennette TECHNICALLY could’ve been 18 at the time of this photo!” like the fact that it’s even something they have to argue is genuinely insane and i don’t know how they don’t fucking hear themselves.. It’s the exact same mindset as creepy grown men who prey on underage girls, but deliberately hover right at the edge of what’s “acceptable” and call it fine because it’s “technically” legal. That’s what they sound like. The fact they have to sound like that in order to defend their fav is bizarre to me. It should be a wake up call. That’s not even to mention, the character Jennette was playing was a 16 year old. This was a known thing too. The character that was posted, was 16.
And honestly, even if the ages never came into account, this is still a fucking creepy thing to do. To post non consensual, edited pornography of someone, while implying you enjoyed it, is literally another example of Melanie refusing people’s boundaries. Jennette didn’t consent to this being made. It does not take a genius to know that. This entire situation literally plays right back into the pattern that both Timothy, and Madeleine called out, of Melanie not accepting someone’s sexual boundaries. There’s so many layers to this that gets ignored by fans, and even Melanie’s critiques and im sick of it. This situation is so much deeper than people know.
