I have a 5 year old border collie and she used to be so playful but now shes withdrawn and she doesn’t listen much and only hides in her little house.
This has been ongoing for a least a few months now
The situation is as follows: we got a kitten two years ago and I moved out last year due to uni.
So the only one looking after our pets is my mum who is busier with work now that her kids have moved out.
My mum dotes on the cat a little bit more but my dog is still getting walks daily. I have told my mum many times that it is not fair on my dog and she get upset.
When my mum gives attention to my cat, my dog leaves.
Now that I have come back from a few months at uni, my dog has gained a significant amount of weight.
My dog doesn’t listen to me, she doesn’t come when I beckon her to. When I take her out on walks she doesn’t listen to me like she does with my mum.
I am heartbroken for her because she is so withdrawn, she used to wait for me at the stairs in the morning. Now when I call for her in the house she doesn’t come.
She goes back to hiding when she sees me. I don’t know what I did wrong. I am so upset.
I brush her fur, I brush her teeth, my mum does not do this. I want to give her a bath she doesn’t listen and hides from me even if I try to lure her with treats.
I am heartbroken.
