Moving to Nanaimo for VIU MBA in late August- Need advice on accommodation and the job scene!
Hey everyone! I’m moving over from India at the end of August to start the MBA program at VIU. I’m super excited about the journey but I'm currently trying to figure out my housing options and could really use some realistic local insight on the locations.
I’ve seen a few places available in Nanaimo, Duncan, and Victoria, but I’m a bit confused about how practical they are. Since I won't have a car right away and will be completely relying on public transit, I wanted to know if it's even manageable to stay in a nearby city like Duncan or Victoria and commute to the VIU campus daily. I’m not sure how the transit connectivity looks between these areas, or if I should just strictly focus my search within Nanaimo itself to avoid a brutal daily commute.
Alongside housing, I’m also really eager to know what the current job market looks like on the island right now. Specifically, I'd love to know how Nanaimo compares to Victoria when it comes to the job scene for students.
