Is MBA from UPGRAD a good decision or bad? Has anyone here done it from here.

Is it worth investing time and money in UPGRAD MBA from Liverpool Business School? I have done BE in computer engineering and wanted to shift my career with a worthy online MBA program. Is this the right one?

Looking for advice: How can I pursue a US MBA without leaving my job?

Hi everyone,

Context, I’m a Mexican professional w/ 7 years of experience, currently exploring MBA options, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have been in a similar situation than me.

Doing a full-time MBA in the US has been a long-term dream of mine, but there’s a major financial problem: I simply cannot afford to quit my job for two years and lose my income while paying for an MBA and living expenses. I have a family and bills to pay.

Because of that, I’m mainly considering three options:
- Executive MBA
- Online MBA
- Blended/hybrid MBA

My biggest challenge is financing.

My employer is a large international corporation, but unfortunately they don’t offer any meaningful education reimbursement or MBA sponsorship. So I would essentially have to self-fund the degree.

The frustrating part is that full-time MBA programs seem to offer significantly more scholarship opportunities, but I can’t realistically stop working for two years. On the other hand, from what I’ve seen, Executive MBA programs tend to offer much smaller scholarships, making them difficult to justify financially as a self-funded international student.

So I’m wondering:

What would you do in my situation?

Are there US MBA/EMBA programs that offer meaningful scholarships to international students while allowing you to continue working? Are there good hybrid programs where you only need to travel to the US periodically?

And more importantly, is there a realistic way to make a top US MBA work financially without employer sponsorship or taking on an unreasonable amount of debt?

I’m open to hearing about US programs, but also about alternatives in Europe or elsewhere if they offer a better combination of prestige, flexibility, and financial aid.

I’d especially appreciate advice from current students or alumni who were self-funded international students.

Thanks!

Starting my MBA Program Online. What Should I Expect?

Title says it all. I got accepted into the MBA program. Originally got a chem degree from UNC CH, had a terrible undergrad experience there and what likely pulled me thru was my GPA from CC and a single UNCA course I took. Is this program daunting? Was it a good experience?

Study tips. Sem 1.Online MBA.

Pls be kind guys. I have not been able to get my M.Sc done because I have to support my family at the moment. So, I opted for an online MBA because I can do it while working. And I am paying for it from my pocket which I am proud of🫠. It's a plus point in my career ahead..if I have an MBA.

Any tips on how to study it...or anything I should prepare for early on would be helpful.

Also, I've recently started classes. I've started studying already and I'm happy for myself.

Finally got rejected from UNC… after I started another program.

I was 3/3 including number 1 Indiana, which is what I chose. I already had orientation at Indiana and finally got my rejection from UNC.

I don’t care obviously at this point, but I can’t help but think I would have gotten into UNC if my application had gone in sooner and I wasn’t already enrolled in another program publicly (its already on my linked in)

Does anyone know if being in another program on linked in would affect admission elsewhere?

Ross OMBA or Kelley Direct

Ross OMBA with 16k scholarship or Kelley Direct with 30k scholarship? Total Ross 114k, total Kelley 65k.

Very tough choice as both are amazing programs but hard to ignore cost. Hoping to get informed comments and polls from recent students.

Kelley Online MBA Thoughts

I was recently admitted into the Kelley online MBA program and just finished the in person experience for the program. It was roughly 5 days long I will give my thoughts for those who may consider applying. I’ll provide my thoughts in answers to questions based on the broader questions or topics many people ask

Is their #1 online ranking justified?

Absolutely.

Kelley MBA has completely mastered the online MBA program by utilizing the on campus portion.

You meet and develop real and long lasting relationships with the full time faculty ( who are also your professors) and your classmates who work in many different industries. They intentionally put you in a pressure cooker where you almost have to rely on strangers so much so they become your friends after 6 days.

Does the Online MBA dilute the MBA/ experience?

maybe other online programs, I cannot speak to them, however at Kelley , it absolutely does not. You don’t get exactly what the full time program gets (understandable of course ) however you get a uniquely crafted experience with the added benefit of keeping your job :) . What you realize quickly is that online programs may not offer you mba internships or recruiting opportunities but Kelley realizes that the network itself is the opportunity. So they give you every opportunity to make meaningful connections.

They offer career coaches for life, your own unique job portal for the online people only as well ambassadors who have connections to industries you would like to pursue. One example is I met my classmate during this experience and we both tried to work at each others jobs & applied for them. Needless to say once we got home we relentlessly advocated for one another with success!

Is this program worth it in comparison to T7 T15 full time programs?

People on Reddit will come on here and tell you something is not worth it while giving you advice like wait and go to a top 5 b school anything outside of that is a waste of time.

Please people of Reddit. Do not listen to them. Something having worth is specific to you as a person.

If you want an excellent B school, a very large network ( which is a metric of success) , at a decent price , then the Kelley online program is absolutely worth it.

For the people who say you need more experience, do not let them deter you, they are forgetting that you are going to school with people who can and literally will advocate for you aggressively in any space in which “ years of experience “ hardly matters as long as you can do the work.

Access does not determine outcomes, but access will get you in the door.

Examine what is worth it to you, and make that decision, do not let a stranger on this app define what things are valuable or worthy of consideration, you define that.

Biases & things to note

I am what you consider an opportunist / strategic networker.

For the 5 days of the on campus experience, I was extremely tactical in all the conversations I had to squeeze out as much value as possible, intentionally. I cannot guarantee that everyone will have the same experience as me. I developed really good relationships with the full time faculty, I’ve made long lasting friendships, formed meet up groups in cities around me and was able to have two interviews directly after the event because of the conversations I had with people. This was my experience & it may not be universal.

I made the experience worth it however my experience was something I created , it won’t be handed to you , as everyone should know.

I don’t believe this program is better or worse then any program , however I do know that their metrics of success are legitimate, people do report high remarks of satisfactions , raises , successful career pivots legitimately. I know that if you were to choose Kelley direct online MBA, you won’t regret the decision. It is different, the only way to take advantage is to embrace the difference!

Mid/High Tier Online-MBA

Currently serving as an officer in the US Air Force. Prior-E Biomedical Laboratory Scientist. 14 years in with clinical, forensics, and genetics experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Sci from University of Arkansas with 3.78 GPA. I have yet to take the GMAT. Interested in online MBA/MHA programs so I don’t have to do a break in service.

Wondering if it’s worth applying to some larger schools. I’ve done research on Ross, Tepper, and UNC’s programs and obviously I would want to do what I can to get a full ride if possible. Would I really be competitive in those program’s admissions? What would you suggest I do to make myself a stronger candidate? Any advice is appreciated!

MD-MBA

Hello everyone,
I am an International Medical Graduate (IMG) and US Green Card holder currently working as a clinical research scholar. I am 25 years old, having recently graduated from medical school, and I am currently at a major career crossroads. I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone who has navigated a similar situation or can give any advice.
Right now, I am debating between pursuing an MBA (targeting M7 programs) or continuing down the traditional path toward medical residency. My long-term career goals lean heavily toward the business side of healthcare, specifically entrepreneurship, health tech, and hospital administration. My main focus and passion is definitely healthcare entrepreneurship. Hospital administration is more of a secondary/backup path in case the venture side doesn't work out as planned.
To get the ball rolling, I have already started preparing for the GRE. I have a very strong medical profile, particularly in research. Despite this, I am feeling quite anxious about the decision. I am worried about whether the high cost of an MBA will be worth it in the end, or if I will regret stepping away from the stability of a clinical medical residency. Ideally, I am hoping to get into a top 7 MBA program and secure a scholarship or apply for loans to make it work.

Just to clarify my timeline, I am not applying immediately. I am planning to apply for the 2028 intake, which will give me two full years of work experience as a research scholar before starting an MBA program.

For those familiar with this path or M7 admissions:
• Does my background in advanced clinical research and data analysis translate well to a competitive MBA application?
• As a research scholar, aside from aiming for a top GRE score, what other areas of my profile should I be working on right now to improve my chances?
Any thoughts, guidance, or shared experiences would be incredibly appreciated!

Best MBA for Working Professionals

I completed 10 years of work experience in the IT industry in July, and I am looking to get an MBA degree or an equivalent with my job, I don't plan to quit work but do something that is for working professionals.

What are my best options? I am not looking for something expensive and would prefer something that doesn't require me to go through CAT or GMAT.

I am not looking for something perfect but something that is the best value for me based on these conditions.

Deciding mba

Hi, I'm 31m, work at a car dealership, and I’m desperately trying to leave. I have a bachelor's in English, not business, but I'm still thinking about an MBA. I’ve been talking to friends, and some said getting a concentration in AI in business is better than data analytics. I’m just not down with AI, but with so many places relying on it, I'm not sure whether I need to suck it up or go the data analytics route. At the same time AI has been seen to be very unreliable because people aren't using it correctly or rely on it too much so I'm not sure if this wave of AI is going to dramatically die down or people will adjust and use it in different ways. I know there's a difference between generative AI and AI uses to detect cancer, predict future business problems etc. Any opinion/help is welcome.
