Hello all, I have been a fan of vgc for a while and played a few regulations here and there when I get burn out on classic wow/ league. My wife really loves the layer of depth vgc brings to a franchise she loves, so she was really excited for champions release because team building was quite overwhelming for her up until now. I wanted to build a team with a few of her favorites, being Raichu and Hawlucha, who actually have some decent synergy with lightning rod and a ground immunity combo.
As far as the overall strategy of the team, I generally like sand, though it’s not a must keep like Raichu and hawlucha are.
I added Milotic to help with incin/ intimidate in general for my heavy physical hitters, a little speed control, and a water resistance.
Sinistcha gives me a fighting immunity, redirection, a somewhat decent trick room blocker, some healing to help with sand chip as I have no overcoat or anything, and a little grass damage for the ground/ water types the team struggles with.
Exadrill/ ttar is the classic sand mode, not much to say, though I would like some feedback on dropping rock slide on exadrill for swords dance, and possibly dropping protect on ttar for dragon dance? I do very much wish excadrills mega ability wasn’t underwhelming but what can you do.
Raichu gives much needed help with some of the faster water types, or more particularly I noticed this team really struggled with gyarados before adding Raichu and sinistcha. Fake out and nuzzle are super good, but I do wonder if eerie impulse is more worth than volt switch or something more niche.
Hawlucha is a fun mega with bulk up and drain punch, gives a ground immunity and another switch in to fighting moves, and helps me deal with opposing Ttar, Sneasler, and grass types. I did have coaching with close combat instead of bulk up and drain punch for a while and it felt decent, but I felt the team lacked consistent damage.
I’ll attach the poke paste screen shot, and would love any sort of feedback!
