Hi everyone!

I’m currently considering buying a used 2022 VW Tiguan eHybrid with 73,000 km (approx. 45,000 miles). The car is in great condition visually and has been well-maintained, but I have some concerns regarding the battery health.

Here are the specifics:

Battery History: I found out that in 2024, when the car had 43,000 km, the State of Health (SOH) was already at 89%.

Current Situation: It’s now 2026, and the car has reached 73,000 km. If the degradation followed the same pattern, I estimate the SOH is now around 82-84%.

Price: Negotiated to €21,900

My questions tot the community:

  1. Is 11% degradation in the first 43k km (2 years) normal for this model? It feels a bit high to me.

  2. Does the price (€21,900) seem fair considering the battery wear, or should I push for a lower price

  3. Given the 8-year / 160,000 km warranty for 70% capacity, do you think it's worth the risk?
