What's one thing the Tiguan interior gets right, and one thing you'd change?

I think VW has done a nice job making the Tiguan feel clean and easy to live with, but every vehicle has room for improvement.

What's one thing you really like about the interior, and what's something you'd like VW to change on the next refresh?

I did it

** EDITING TO ADD, I WORK AT A VW DEALER SO I HAD ACCESS TO EMPLOYEE PRICING **

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post with feedback! I went with the SE R line, she’s beautiful and I love her already. I hope I don’t regret not going for the higher trim lol 🤣

Looking at used, what’s your honest opinion.

Hi friends. I’m looking for a used car and have been eyeing these. The price point is a little better than Subaru or Toyota. Looking for less than 60k miles so I’m finding 2018-2020.

What should I look out for and what’s your honest opinion of the car.

Thanks

Cylinder head

For those that have needed their cylinder head replaced, what was your wait time like? I know the parts are back ordered, but are we talking 6 months, or like a year? I’ve been waiting almost 2 months, but my dealership said they have another customer that’s been waiting since March. They said I was ok to drive it, but it stresses me out that I’m going to blow the engine.

Certified Tiguan weird welds in engine bay and low oil?

Hey guys I just got a used certified 2022 Tiguan back in June and today I got a low oil light come on. I called and the dealership I got it from told me it’s normal but I could bring it in for a complimentary top up. The car has 55k miles on it.

Also looking at the engine bay I saw a bunch of weird welds all over, is this all normal? I’m new to VW and never seen a cars engine bay welds look so messy.

Insufficient wiper speed

Upgraded from a 22 SE to a 26 SEL Tiguan a few months back. Major issue I’m finding is the max wiper speeds are simply not fast enough. Anyone else experiencing this? On 3 occasions this year while driving in rain I have had to stop due to visibility issues from wipers not clearing the windshield fast enough, which is something I have never experienced before.

Does anyone know if there is a potential fix I could do on my own? Or even a dealership question? Or just have to live w this…

Metallic Clicking/Clunking Noise from Under Driver’s Floor When Turning

I have Tiguan 2012. 2.0TDI 103kw 4motion DSG
When turning at a slightly higher speed, especially when I have to turn the steering wheel close to full lock, I hear a single loud metallic clicking or popping sound, as if something is skipping or suddenly moving into place. It sounds like the noise is coming from underneath the driver’s feet or around the driver’s seat area.
When I test the car in a parking lot by driving in tight circles or doing figure eights, the noise can sometimes occur several times in a row “click, click, click” and it sounds like something metallic is popping or jumping under the car.
The noise does not occur when the car is stationary, and it is mainly noticeable when the car is turning under load, particularly during tighter turns.
Interestingly, when I open the driver’s window while driving, I cannot hear the noise from outside the vehicle. I can only hear it clearly from inside the cabin, and it always seems to come directly from the floor of the car, underneath the driver’s feet or seat area.

Tiguan SE R Line Black Offer Sheet

Curious if this is in the ballpark for what you guys are seeing. I am in an area with one VW dealer and the next closest is a 5 hour drive. I’m wondering if it’s worth shopping around or not. Thanks!

Gearbox failure after 28k miles - normal?

Mechanic said it's a known issue with 2022 models. 1.5 auto.. while driving it said emergency gearbox issue and refused to go into odd number gears + reverse. Got warranty coverage so it's fine just thought I'd survey to see what experience others have had

Anyone having rough start on new Tiguan?

I got my 2026 Tiguan in April and on some starts it takes more cranks to start and it shakes the car a bit more. On rare occasions it sometimes fails to start. Anyone else experience this? Is this normal?

CX-5 or Tiguan? (or any alternatives)

As the title says we are looking to upgrade our VW Polo to bigger, more practical family car.

I've been researching none stop for a couple of weeks and we have shortlisted it down to the VW Tiguan and the Mazda CX-5 as they are the two I keep getting drawn back to.

The Tiguan as we like the look of the older R-line and the newer 2025 so either would be okay, I like the interior and the screen even though a lot of people don't like them, I don't actually mind having a screen and I'm not car mad enough to demand buttons instead! and VW is my wife's soft spot (The Polo is technically hers).

The CX-5 we can get is the Homura, which is a lot less technical on the interior, more premium feel although a bit dated and overall doesn't look as nice (IMO) as the Tiguan, although externally looks more luxury but have heard it handles very nicely - We are going to test drive all options next week so can witness this first hand.

However, visuals aside I've heard quite a few costly problems with the Tiguan and have heard much better things about the Mazda in terms of reliability, so that being said, as this is a family car, is it unadvisable to go for the VW just based on it slightly preferring the looks and tech in it?

Are the 2023-2025 Tiguans more reliable or do they seem to be still a bit of a risk?

And lastly, based on what we are looking at, does anyone with knowledge have any other recommendations? Every manufacturer has some form of SUV in this class and within budget so happy to explore.

We're looking newish preowned (under 30,000 miles, hopefully under 20,000) and looking around the £25,000 mark down to a loan and deposit from the VW polo we have, we are in the UK (I have no idea if being in the UK changes reliability with some cars)

Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to help us!

2019 miles…

New record! It only took 4 weeks and 2019 miles
to trigger my check oil level notification in my 2022 Tiguan S.

Previously it would be around 4000 miles post oil change

I’m so sick of this…

Warning lights

I bought a new 2026 Tiguan 2 weeks ago and everyday for the last few days these lights have been appearing. They eventually turn off, but considering I haven't even made a payment yet, I'm a lil concerned. Anyone else dealing with this?

2026 SEL R line

I’m considering a 2026 SEL R line. I would love feedback from tall/plus size people (not that tall but 5’9) on the comfort of the driver seat/space. I have a ford escape right now the driver seat is the most uncomfortable seat I’ve sat in. Also any feedback you have on the car itself, does anyone regret buying it?Thanks !!

New to the game

Been lurking around this sub for a few months. Picked up a 2022. Currently has 32k and I have a CPO label so I have 2 more years on the VW warranty.

Wondering if anyone has upgraded speakers, I’d like to have a better sound without distortion. I don’t need subs or a giant amp - just better speakers inside the car. Give me some suggestions.
