Play Store says my app shouldn’t be AO, but it’s a real-money gambling app?
Hey all,
Running into a weird contradiction during Play review. My app includes real-money gameplay, and based on the IARC questionnaire it’s rated AO (Adults Only) — which aligns with Play policy for gambling apps. But Google rejected the update saying the app is incorrectly rated as AO and shouldn’t be.
That’s the confusing part:
AO was auto-generated from the questionnaire
The app does involve real-money mechanics
Play policy says gambling apps must be AO
So it feels like:
The rating system says “this is AO rated app”
The reviewer says “this is not a AO rated app”
Has anyone hit this mismatch where:
You’re treated as AO by IARC, but not by Play policy
And Google asks you to re-take the IARC questionnaire
Trying to understand if this is: A questionnaire issue
